Make that into a poster. Walt Kelly did that with Pogo but with only the major characters. Himself, of course Pogo, Albert, Churchy and Rackety Coon Chile.
Wiley, I don’t know what keeps you going in these dark days but I know what helps me keep going. I’m happy to sail with you and Captain Eddy on the Anoesis through any storm.
(that you’re celebrating 28 rather than 30 years is what worries me. I can only hope that the 28 is a coincidental number and the real celebration is the 20 years with Andrews McNeel)
Thank you too, Wiley, for bringing light every day to dark world. These comics have kept the funny going for me for a very long time and I look forward to what new strip comes out every day!
On 10/2/2004 I became a lifetime fan Mr. Miller. I could not stop laughing at that strip, so I hung it up. I keep laughing because people still ask me what’s so funny about it. Thank you for you work sir, especially your Renaissance Bears!
Congratulations! Mazel tov! Felicitations! Live long and prosper. And, thank you for 28 years of making us all laugh, ponder, sigh and laugh again…sometimes all at the same time.
Thank you. Your work helps get me through each day. Seeing all of your characters together reminds me how creative and innovative your mind is. Looking forward to another 28 years (or more).
Congrats on your anniversary.Sad that all the papers that discontinued because Lord Rump, and the RethugliKlan party try to shut down free speech.Fahrenheit 451?II hope not ;) hope not
Thank you, but please acknowledge we real nut cases have given you, and always will, an infinite supply of material to show us our selves. And Lord, open our eyes to see ourselves. Amen.
Thank you Wiley! I miss you in the Boston Globe, but still read you every day online. Your characters are all terrific, but I think my favorites are Kate, the good sister, Homer the Reluctant Soul and the ever loyal Paulie.
I might be called a Trump nut, but I don’t need a magnifying glass to see humor. My local libtard rag (the Wichita Eagle part of the bankrupt McClatchy group) dropped the comic some time ago for some perceived slight. This is typical of libtards, as they ban anything that upsets their world view. Unlike libtards, conservatives have a sense of humor. We have to in order to deal with all the snowflakes that surrounds us. Non Sequitur has been one of my favorite strips since it started.
It’s a great comic but our paper dropped it, so I dropped them. Now it’s a daily treat to read it online. I haven’t seen Obviousman in a long time, sure miss him.
I did not see MEGACONGLOME CORP in the tree; It is long past time for them to return; and seeing the EKERT; it is time to turn him loose on the clowns in Washington, D.C., and state capitols (they are just as bad). I do look forward to seeing NON SEQUITUR every day; It is a ray of sunshine penetrating the darkness that infests us.
I’m late to the party since the paper I’ve taken for those 28 years doesn’t carry the strip…but it’s a favorite now thanks to online comics…congratulations
Lucky us, too. As so many cartoons have failed or the cartoonist has burned out, the life of this innovative cartoon and its creator has been astonishing.
Happy Anniversary! Love the poster and the cast of sometimes forgotten characters (especially Brenda and Victoria and Ordinary Basil). Non Sequitur is an essential part of my morning. Thanks!
There’s little I can add to the accolades above, which you so richly deserve and more, other than to add my own admiration for your perseverance and the daily dose of humor you bring to me. And my local newspaper gets a weekly e-mail from me; “Bring Back Non Sequitur!”
Thank you for the humor and enlightenment :-D . I think I remember you had a toon on the pre-web back in the early 80s with some horses in primary colors?? I lost track of it though when my bank account downsized. If that was you, I’m glad I rediscovered you, if it wasn’t — then I’m glad I discovered you.
Great montage. Non Sequitur is unique. The nimnils at GoComics gave me a turn, there, when it appeared that your strip would be banned, apparently because “uck” is a dirty word. (Gimmmie a break.)
I recognize most of the major characters but am fuzzy on the minor ones. Who was the girl described as the anti-Danae? She lived in the woods, could fly using a cloud of mosquitoes, and then her glen was bulldozed. Am I remembering this right and is she on the page? Keywizard
Thank you all—each and every one of you wonderful characters for the wonderful moments of instruction and delight you’ve given me. Wiley, thanks to you too.
Mazel tov, Mr. Miller. Every day, you give me something to think about or laugh about. Or both! Kennehora, may we be here for another 28 years to celebrate Non Sequitur’s 56th anniversary!
Astounding. A lot of long time comics the archives only go back a few years, especially on ones over 20 years old. I just checked and the archive on this strip actually goes back to Feb. 16 1992. I might have to stay a paying member for this archive alone.
Thank you SO much for all the kind words. I am truly humbled by it. And for all of you who have noted how sad/angry you are about your local paper having dropped Non Sequitur last year, you need to call the editor of the paper and him or her just what you’ve said here. They won’t know unless you tell them. And, no, I won’t be doing it for another 28 years, as I’d be in my mid-90’s by then.
I can still remember the first cartoon of yours I read. It was in the Rocky Mountain News. It showed a guy walking down a street and about to cross in front of an alley. The alley had a ganster/thug rabbit in it, armed with a switchblade. The caption said: “???? was about to have a bad hare day!!” Sorry, I don’t remember what the guy’s name was. Anyway, I’ve been hooked ever since. Please keep up the good work!!!
Whew, you had me worried there. Usually when I see a toon like this it’s the end of a strip. Thanks for a great strip, looking forward to many more toons.
Another kind word. One of the amazing things about good cartoons such as this one: We get more every day ! which is completely unlike the works of most other creative people. Heck I can read a book in 5 hours and then I have to wait months or (sadly) years or even sometimes forever for another opus, But I can come back here and find something good day after day after day!
Congratulations, by the way. I’ll follow you for as long as you continue to create Non Sequitur. It’s a breath of fresh air in these distinctly noxious times. Thank you for the laughs and the conversation points.
I think I have followed you for 25 of those 28 years… I’m glad I did a teeny weeny bit to get you into Australian papers… And I look forward to many more years of your wonderful humour!!! (I don’t know if any local papers dropped you because I have long subscribed to GoComics – just to get your comic delivered to me every day. But if they did, boo!)

I have contacted the editor of my paper…several times. We had a rather long discussion stream going for almost a week but to no avail. heavy sigh…

For my money (which is none, of course) this is the most intelligent and interesting strip I read. I look forward to it every day.
