The whiny snowflake crybabies refusing to adhere to simple public safety standards are the ones causing the need for them to continue.

Wearing a simple mask is no more a loss of “personal freedom” that wearing clothes in public, wearing a seat belt or complying with laws that “infringe” your “freedom” to drive drunk.

If you want to put your own sorry rear end at risk, have at it. But “freedom” does not include the “right” to endanger others.

In any case, as Mike notes at the end, the virus will have the last word, and then the whiny crybabies will whine that it is a “liberal conspiracy” because somehow the prominent PROgressives who they ridicule for wearing masks somehow stay alive, while the virus somehow seems to strike disproportionately at those who flaunt the rules meant to protect them (and others).

The ones I feel most sorry for are the ones who want to be safe, but are forced by economic necessity and corporate cruelty to choose between safety and economic survival.

Those who refuse to adhere to simple public safety standards should be the one sent to the end of the treatment line when it comes time to triage health care shortages that they caused to occur.

Tragedy is, that mask is more effective preventing the USER from infecting other people. (That is why doctors and nurses wear surgical masks). It does work preventing the user form getting infected by other people, but that is not as effective. Thus, he protects other people, who doesn’t protect him. SAAAD!

Fascinating, isn’t it, that the very same people excusing Trump’s attempt to ban Muslims said “The constitution is not a suicide pact” because they’re firmly convinced all Muslims are out to kill all non-Muslims, yet they shout “The constitution does not permit this tyranny”, referring to the public health measures now? Nah, none of their stupidity is political; nope; none of it at all. Idiots and bigots.

If only we could direct C19 toward the easy pickings…if only.

Of course, even if there was a magical way, the catch-22 is that there is always collateral damage among the innocent, and as is now happening in parts of the country with a few more months remaining the health system is on the verge of collapse.

The reports of the virus mutating now, which presents the possibility of an ineffective vaccine, raises our anxiety and fear levels. It’s as if Mother Nature is saying “OK ‘freedom fighters’, see if you can get this message”.

Stop screwing with the environment and the balance of life!

I knew Trudeau was a leftist wacko, but this is ridiculous. I really seriously doubt that people cause a scene for someone wearing a mask. I certainly have not seen it. Most public places require it. Obviously they are not doing that much to help, bc most stores, public places have required them now for months and what is happening? They say rates are going up!Go figure. But I wish GBT would leave his politics out of his comic and focus on real comedy.

That’s pretty much the way it seems in Boulder, CO – except that store employees must wear masks, too. People are supposed to wear masks to shop, but after so many assault and battery cases, most large stores just ignore people who don’t comply. – It’s very disheartening, especially receiving abuse for wearing a mask when you’re rated as “susceptible.” The country is going down the tubes….

Obviously this happens in our world, and GBT used creative license to compile in one setting the different remarks made by the ignorant who believe that their constitutional freedom gives them the right to verbally assault others.

Of all places for it to occur mine was at a municipal compost landfill. I could not risk any chance of infection because I did not want to bring anything back home. My wife was in radiation treatment for cancer.

So, I asked the guy I hired to assist to wear a mask while we were in the truck. The genius self-appointed medical expert sees us as he was about to leave and has to stop to question me. I have too much going on to be confrontational so I give the short curt answer. Here’s the clincher now.

He ends it by telling me that wearing a mask too much will compromise my immune system because I am not allowing it to strengthen. Complete disconnect with what is ongoing in the country.

Most I can say to disengage is “I have never heard about that before now.” Better than saying that I hope you get infected instead of me and you have long close conversations with all those who believe as you do.

I’ve been trying to promote the idea of “net freedom”, defined as ability minus restrictions. I illustrate it with the idea of Daniel Boone trekking thru the Cumberland Gap on his way to Kentucky. Ol’ Dan’l didn’t have to worry about no dam gubmint-imposed 70 MPH speed limit like modern travelers on the interstate highway do. But our modern motorists have way more net liberty than Daniel did, because their ability to do things is so much greater.

One statement is not more idiotic than the other—they are exactly equally stupid. One statement is not more insane than the other, they are exactly equally crazy. For a third statement, for purposes of illustration, that is EXACTLY as stupid and EXACTLY as crazy as the first two, consider this: (3) Not only is Elvis alive and well, he was the secret love child of the god Apollo and a female T-rex!

The eastern side believe in their individual rights, screw the other guy. In all (well, quite a bit of) seriousness:

As the number of deaths increases, logic would dictate that a disproportionate number of Trump supporters are contracting COVID, since they’re the ones who are refusing to wear masks and thus becoming a danger to themselves and others.

If that’s the case, wouldn’t that be considered “proof” that “we” are correct and “they” are wrong?

Because, if, in direct contrast, there was a disproportionate number of, let’s say, “Trump detractors” being infected — thus “proving” (by Trump standards, anyway) that wearing masks doesn’t accomplish anything - there is no way in HELL that Trump supporters wouldn’t be crowing to the rooftops about that. :|

So what does it mean that neither “we” nor “they” are dying in disproportionate numbers? What does that NOT mean?

(BTW, shouldn’t gocomics or whoever sets the standards for these posts have recognized “COVID”/“covid”/“Covid” as a correctly spelled word by now? Oh well.)

BLM protests are almost all outside and the majority of protesters did wear masks. There were even many at the protests who gave out hand sanitizer and masks. It could be said that there should not have been large gatherings of people as one would see in protests, however, other than that, BLM protesters did tend to follow the guidelines. Therefore, it wouldn’t make much sense for GT to criticize BLM protests for not following Covid-19 guidelines, since there was an obvious attempt made to follow them as much as possible.

    “They’re all yours.”

So, in effect, Mike just “turned over” a storeful of people to the Coronavirus, in effect sentencing a noticeable percentage of total strangers to CERTAIN DEATH? But it’s just a comic strip, I should really just relax. ;-)

At least Mike didn’t hold the door open for him. Unlike certain other people who could be named…

The more of those right-wing idiots that get taken out permanently by covid the better. I’m so pissed off that tRump and rudy survived it, while John Prine died.

I suppose that at some point in distant history, stores and restaurants didn’t have

    NO SHIRT

    NO SHOES

    NO SERVICE

signs. I wonder how long it took that to become such an accepted part of reality that almost no one gives it a thought any more. Maybe we just need signs that say

    NO SHIRT

    NO SHOES

    NO MASK

    NO SERVICE

so that it’s all just one “decree” instead two old familiar decrees and one new one.

Eighty years or so ago, in the golden age of something or another, men wore hats without anyone telling them to do so or indeed caring if they did so or not. Which has nothing to do with anything, I suppose.

“We were just wondering why you weren’t wearing a hat.” — from MST3K’s riffing of “The Brute Man” (1946)

This strip offers another advantage of remaining isolated: To avoid contact with people like that unless absolutely necessary. Because social interaction was highly overrated to begin with. IMHO. ;-)
