If it wasn’t long, you wouldn’t have an abbr. for it. Next.

But the one that’s really odd is why there’s no synonym for synonym.

How come the word “palindrome” isn’t spelled the same backward and forward?

Why doesn’t “hyphenated” have a hyphen? Why aren’t vehicles allowed on a driving range?

And why is “eon” so short?

And why isn’t “monosyllabic” monosyllabic?

Why is there no such thing as a brief circuit?

Why is phonetic not spelled phonetically?

Why is the acronym for “World Wide Web” three times as long as the phrase itself?

Because it symbolizes all the shortcomings of the world. Move aside.

The word “abbreviation” can be worse in Russian : Сокращенное название (Sokrashchennoye nazvaniye)

Since they’re so close together, why are they called “apartments”?

Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways? Why does the word lisp have an s in it? Life is full of conundrums.

But ugly is an ugly word and cute is a cute word. Or maybe I’m thinking too much.

I don’t like to see drivers drive with their parking lights on. I wonder if they park with their driving lights on?

We can agree there are odd thoughts now coming through to us being by ourselves a lot more than usual.

For the same reason that only lawyers will submit a 400 page document and call it a “brief.”

I think the wise ass should dig a hole and put a sign by it that clearly identifies it as his hole.

For that matter, why is the word “short” longer than the word “long”?

Thinking about it, a lot of the words for things that are small seem to be long.

And speaking of abbreviations, it’s odd that “WWW” has three times as many syllables as “world-wide web”.

I’m an editor and that’s going to bother me for a month.
