I’ve never been a big Bets fan but I’m proud of her for ending her social media site. Hopefully she’ll find something better to put all her energy into.

Well, 1 more day of this and it looks like we’ll have a nice new arc on Monday.
If she feels the need to break up with him because she had to end that social media site she made for her and him, than she doesn’t deserve him. She has serious social media addiction issues. If her character is continued in the strip, they need to show her getting help for it as it is ruining her life.
Yep, Bets used this event as a good way to dump Gunther. I did not see that coming. Question is, does she continue vlogging but just remove Gun from the name? I guess Bets does not care how she just crushed Gunther. Now does the G-Man run after her? We find out tomorrow!
Gunther really does look stunned, I agree with Ivlax. And I really feel that way, myself. I’m glad Bets ended her ‘anti-social’ media platform, but I’m not so glad she’s walking away from Gunther. I think they were opposites who did attract and I’m sorry this seems to be over…
It’s part of Bets’ need to be in control that she had to be the one to break up with Gunther, rather than letting him tell her what he meant by “mostly (happy).” She still hasn’t heard about Gunther and Luann showing up together as a non-dating “duet,” and didn’t let Gunther respond to her announcement about having shut down the site devoted to their relationship. I don’t dislike her, but this wasn’t a kind or mature way to end it…all intended to protect her feelings, not to find out what Gunther wanted. It really is her way or the highway.
Well, I hope this is the LAST time Bets leaves Gunther.
And for the record, after all HER complaints about having nothing but “liars” and “cheaters” in her life, after finally finding someone she had something in common with (Cosplay) but in the end, THAT wasn’t “good” enough, it was BETS that destroyed the relationship with her social media addiction, and her pushy domineering ways. NOT Gunther.
Too bad. IMO, Bets was a great character.
Once again, I’ll be interested to see “Who” among Gunth’s long time lady friends, whom he’s helped numerous times by the way, will still be there for him now.
I’m proud of Bets for being so decisive. Most people wouldn’t give up a source of income that quickly.

I hope they DON’T somehow instantly solve all their issues in the Saturday strip. They should accept they’ve got a lotta compatibility issues to unpack and, at best, desperately need time apart to consider if being together is the right choice. I know some people are very Pro-Bets/Gun (Bunther? Guts? Buns?), but I think we all know the healthy option after witnessing the last few months worth of stories. Yesterday, we saw that neither can even keep convincing themselves they’re happy anymore.
The way Stef’s constantly spewing annoying, tone-deaf things two days in a row without Gunther or Bets addressing her is unintentionally hilarious to me. She’s so cartoonishly demented while twisting the knife on their failed relationship as much as humanly possible. No one at the party is doing anything at all to encourage her have the bare minimum of social graces. Honestly, it’s like she’s a court jester whose presence is being actively ignored and it kind of makes me laugh that it’s juxtaposed with this heavy relationship drama.
Also, I’ve got a very delayed realization: why’d Stef even GET an invite to the party anyway? Didn’t she call Tiffany and Dez fat to when she got back to the dorm? They let her walk all over them, at some point they kind of welcome her nonsense by including her.
Gun lost his holster? He looks contemplative in the last frame, perhaps weighing his feelings for Bets vs their differences. Well gone for good or not I agree with Mordock she was an interesting character, and one I liked very much.
Let’s not forget that part of the motivation to go on the road was the rules imposed by Gunther’s mother and Mr. Gray. Nothing suggests that this has changed and it is doubtful that Gunther is about to stand up to them.
Gunther is now part of Bets’ list of bad love experiences. And since it was constant in that relationship, the decision to end it was made by Bets without considering Gunther.
I’m not sorry to see her go, she took over Gunther, made him do what she wanted to do, dress, act, and feel. I think he was gob smacked by all the attention.
Re-reading the last couple of weeks, I think Bets thinks Gunther is on a date with Luann, despite the advice from Tiff to the contrary and the denials from Gunther and Luann.
We the readers know that’s wrong, but what Bets sees matches up with her suspicions about Luann dating back to when Luann was behaving like a completely oblivious idiot on Bets and Gunther’s first date.
So, instead of a happy reunion for The Fans, it appears to be a breakup based mostly on a series of misunderstandings (zzz). The Fans are gone, but they were fair weather voyeurs anyhow…easily replaced in the long run.
If it is The End, I’ll miss Bets…unless she returns to school and remains part of the dorm group, in which case I’ll look forward to seeing her there, and finding out how she reinvents her income, if that ever shared.
The message I’m getting is that Bets lives on social media. If she’s ended Bets N’ Gun, she done with Gunther. If you know the Jack Lemmon/Virna Lisi 1965 movie How To Murder Your Wife (which, though it doesn’t actually involve a murder at all, probably which could not be made in 2023), it’s the same theme – if someone’s collapsed their public and private lives, they’re very hard then to uncollapse.
OK. Let me see if I can follow this. On Saturday (our time) Bets is planning on a great reunion with Gunther. Steph posts a picture of Gunther with Luann causing all kinds of comments from their followers. On Monday, Tiff tries to let Bet knows what is actually happening, calling Steph an idiot. Bets, looking very angry replies, “No, I am” and heads into the party. Many of her fans in the real world expected fireworks between Bets and Steph, but that’s not the G&K way, so instead Bets sees what harm her podcast is doing to Gunther and does a very mature thing, killing the Bets N Gun podcast. (BTW, since she started it she didn’t need anyone’s permission to kill it.)The next part puzzles me. She says “Goodby Gunther Berger”, meaning we’re done. There’s nothing to point out that she planned on breaking up with Gun, based on Monday and other days before, so she must think she’s doing the best thing for Gunther. Mature in that she shows that she does care for Gunther, immature in that she doesn’t listen to Gun’s feelings or thoughts. Bottom line, I feel like I’ve been played by Karen and Gregg as they decided to write off Bets and this is the best idea they came up with.
Well Bets, you started the whole thing and in the end, you messed it up by leaving Gunther and continuing with your road life. You deserved it and he did not. Thank you for ending it. Let Gunther go and heal and move on. Luann will be there for him as a friend. Luann will clean up your mess, Bets. Gunther probably doesn’t agree with Bets’s leaving as the best thing for them now but he will see it was indeed the best thing Bets did for them. Hope this is the last we’ll see you, Bets. Don’t come back. And Stef? Watch out. Your newfound fans will turn on you when they realized what you did. You helped shut down Bets’n’Gun in a mean spit. They’ll see you’re a spiteful and hateful girl. Hopefully Kip will have had enough of you and leave you. Why don’t you join Bets and drive the van into the sunset. You’ll meet a new guy at those conventions Bets goes to.
FINALLY. Don’t let the door hit you in the posterior on the way out, Bets. If she was truly interested in Gunther and wanted to be with him, she would’ve deleted the social media account and continued their relationship. But she didn’t. She’s all about her social media fame, nothing else.
Bets’ expression in the last panel says: “I’m not attracted to Gunther anymore, and I wanted to end this. I am so relieved! I feel completely free again!”
I’m really hoping that this issue between Gunther and Bets get resolved amicably. I’ve been putting up with the stress ever since the two of them split and Bets took off in the van. The story has been intense, but I read comics to relax, not bite my nails. I’ve pretty much resolved to stop reading the strip if the issue isn’t brought to a reasonable conclusion, or (even worse) dropped with no resolution at all. Right now, it’s like anticipating Brad getting killed by a bus while saving a toddler from the same fate. Needless to say, not too many of your readers are going to be smiling when this is over. Prove me wrong.
See? I knew this would happen! From my last comment about me being happy but sad at the same time saying that I was glad to see BETS again, but also sad that this could be the very last time we’ll see her anymore like of all the other come and go characters in this comic series. sighhhhh and it just happened.
Sooo. the whole relationship was built on Bets’ social media campaign. No campiagn, no relationship. I think there is till a chance for them if she realizes or actually truly cares about Gun. – or – the failed perception of their relationship is the reality of it.
In all, I think Gun is realizing Bets needs that outside validation and if he isn’t to sustain her, then he might be best without her.
It’s at least one day early to end this arc, so I think there’s still trickery afoot. Being as self absorbed as Bets is, her “Goodbye, Gunther Berger” is probably just an end to her Bets n Gun social media bullsnot. She’ll surely start another online thing focused solely on herself, and find a way to keep Gunther firmly under her thumb.
Once again, Bets is running away from a situation instead of facing it and once again, Gunther says nothing and watch… I hope that tomorrow he reacts and says something to her, or that the others do it. Tiffany, Luann or even Les. End “BetsNGun” was definitely something that took a lot of courage, but she can’t leave like this. Taking the blame for everything and rejecting any chance to make amends because she has to be punished and suffer. I don’t think that she will get into her van to disappear or that she will go back to college, but that she will go to her parents, who she can’t stand. I really hope Tiffany stops Bets from going out.
So perhaps we will see why the uber/lyft driver was a person in the Rosa and Gunt storyline. I don’t know what would be, but we could be getting close.
As for those who said Bets doesn’t love Gunt, neener.
I can’t believe, after saying Gun didn’t deserve all the trouble he was experiencing, and then she ends the relationship. Maybe Luann will be a friend to Gunther and, who knows, start a closer relationship with him. As has been said, Lu and Gun are a good couple.
I never liked Bets anyway. I always felt she was using Gunther for content on her site. When opinion turned against her, she pulled the plug on her site and showed that she cared not for Gunther at all.
Well, I guess they weren’t really a couple in the first place. Nothing more than a media setup that she created in her world. Nothing more than that. Talk about playing with illusions and being delusional…
Rather than talking things through and dealing with their/her problems once again she just leaves. Gunther, you’re a decent guy, you DO deserve better.
Yes, thank you! Now please, stay broken up this time. Bets is too self-centered for ANY relationship right now. She hasn’t dealt with any of the problems she admitted to in the past. She is so keyed in to social media that every single aspect of her life is tied to it. She is a very unhealthy person right now and she needs to work on that before going anywhere near a relationship.
So “Bets & Gun” was not ever ‘meant’ to be a real relationship, just a vlogging business venture, from day 1. But questions linger and why am I a little reminded of the time she ran off leaving Gun alone at Weenie World after he told her that he loved her? In her mind that was not supposed to happen and I’m wondering if her outburst on having missed Gunth and the hug were genuine. I think they were. But clearly she returned because the ‘Bets & Gun’ vlogg demanded it; but it’s all not working out as planned and she’s running away again; the business didn’t work, ok she’ll start another, ever the business women… maybe. But her emotions may be getting in the way; too many questions here…….
And thus will likely end this arc as Greg moves to something new tomorrow, leaving us hanging for the finale between Bet’s and Gunther. As well as to who does what to Stef.
Noooooo! Oh well, the reason they went their separate ways was a deep difference in personalities which would be very difficult to accommodate in a close relationship.
If you’ve been reading this strips long as I have, you’ll remember that girlfriends/boyfriends don’t last for ever … but let’s see where this goes. Arc over soon I hope.
As predicted so long ago… So long Betz! It’s all about you. Gunny, go forth now and find thee a real woman. One who is creative, daring and not super glued to a cell phone and social media.
What happened to all of Bett’s fantasizing about her and Gunthie growing old and having a family together, or am I just remembering something befogged by old age? Well, she can hit the road now until she finds some other schnoob to exploit on her posts, and Gunthie can finally leave Mama and enter the monastery, which seems to be his likely fate.
Good for her for recognizing how toxic the site had become and what it was doing to them and their relationship, for taking responsibility for all that, and for giving Gunther the chance to be free of her; but now we get to see what Gunther will do. I hope he goes after her. Without the distraction of social media, she might see things more clearly and recognize again what she saw in him all along.
This frame makes no sense. Bet’s ending the Bet’s N Gun site made sense. But then coldly walking out with a Goodbye Gunther Berger, is so out of character for her. Guess that is what you get when you only have 3 to 4 panels a day to work with.
This isn’t the first time Gunther has been in a relationship with someone, who ended up leaving him for some reason…and when was the last time she was even mentioned in the strip, much less shown? (2015, according to Wikipedia)
Stef’s bow could be horns! Bets may have created the vlog, “Bets n Gun”, but it took two to create the relationship. In love, there is forgiveness. Ending the vlog is good, ignoring the posts is better. Walking away from someone you love, rather than talking it out is not love. It’s controlling the situation and selfish. I’d be very surprised if this was the end. =:-o
And so Saturday approaches. Will the current arc end? Will Bets really leave? (I doubt it). Will Bernice really wake up in the pool house with Kip? (I really doubt it) Will the ice bergs continue to recede at the same rate that Luann’s love life proceeds? ( Yep.)
If this is indeed the end to the relationship between Bets and Gunther, then the next person on whom Gunther needs to set his relationship sights is….GUNTHER. There is way too much angst about “Gunther and (enter name of significant other here)”. Gunther needs to work on developing Gunther so that he does not need a “significant other” to help him feel complete. Only then will he be ready to pursue a true and lasting relationship with someone else…and not necessarily someone that we have already met in the strip. And it should also happen without the advice/involvement of his mother; I think that that is part of the problem.
I also think that completely ignoring Stef and her antics is the absolute best way to handle her. Nothing will upset her more than to be treated as persona non grata. The entire cast of the strip should “cancel” her with extreme prejudice. (Hey, Stef…will Kip be there when you get back?) And, again…why is she even there in the first place, unless it is only to be the antagonist?
As for Bets…I agree that she is an interesting and likable character, but her emotional instability is off the charts, and social media addiction is driving her personality as well as her interaction with other people face-to-face. She needs help. She and Gunther are better off without each other…at least for a while. Maybe in the future, after they have each worked through their existing character flaws, they could come together again and try “Bets ’n Gun v.2: A Real Relationship, Not An Internet Un-Reality Show.”
Now…let’s bring this arc in for a landing and move on to more interesting pursuits.
Wait, didn’t she just come back and say how she wanted to be with him??!! Now, she’s done because stupid Steph posted something about them. So what? If you really care about him, who cares what others do? Either way, she’ll lose her “Bets’n’Gun”. So, she might as well stay with the guy she likes.
I think by the way she says she hates what they are saying, she knows there is truth to it. And she realized she was being selfish and hurting him and thats why shes leaving. And ya know what. GOOD. This may be growth for her but it’s not enough to redeem her in my opinion. She used Gunther as a prop and thats that.
Seems repairable to me. The real culprit is the addiction to social media. Cancel that and you will uncancel the damage done to what appears to be a good friendship/relationship. While simple for those not so addicted, addiction, of any sort, IS difficult to overcome…..
I have to ignore all the coments until I give my take. This is not the end, its a cliffhanger. It’s a complete setup. At least in my opinion. The funny thing is, all the negative comments mirror so many in this and other blogs on Luann, and while this is to be expected as part of human nature, heree it’s focused mostly, negatively on Bets. so the Bets haters are happy. But this strip is the home of misdirection, paticularly for those who are so basically into the strip; which means it’s open for projection of one’s own feelings. I project (yes I admit) positively for Bets, who while imperfect, has a remarkably sensitive and mature side, along with that emotion, but then I know many here would totally fall down laughing at this. What will determine what happens is in the mind of the strip creators, but you can be sure there will be cliffhaangers. Will this continue Monday, or have a new arc? Lets see what happens Saturday first. I think Gunther will/should man up and go get his woman, but we’ll see (go get in the sense of convincing her how much he loves her for her and does not care about the social media. In the wake of Ye and Cassie I’m reminded the importance of making that clear; no possesory intent).
WOW Bets saw one picture of Gunther standing next to Luann at a party and she’s done with him? After she’s been socializing all over the country with who knows who and not even contacting him regularly?? She seems to have some pretty strict and one-sided behavior rules for her relationships. Oh, and then, to top it off, she’s going to portray her cancelling the blog and leaving him as some kind of big personal sacrifice so that Gunther can “be happy”?? She really needs to get a Drama Queen shirt and wear it every day of her life so that unsuspecting people can be fore-warned. Gunther can get a Lying Cheater shirt to wear I guess.
What? Whoa! This came out differently than I expected.
I figured on this being a PSA about Social Media Addiction, and as the followers turned toxic, Bets would realize that these online people aren’t the “family” she was aching for, pull the plug, go rushing back into Gunther’s arms in tears, swear off Social Media forever, tell everyone (Irma included) that she made a mistake about blowing off University and go rushing back to classes, turning herself into “Gunther’s Good Girl” and respecting and obeying (and conforming to) his Parental Units from now on because “parents know best”.
But the last panel, where, after deleting the site, she turns her back on Gunther and bids him, “goodbye” ?
On the Internet Troll Channel, this is being streamed live, broken up by two or three 30-sec. commercials, of course. At the end of the commercial run, a voice comes on saying, And now, back to “Bets ’n Gun: The Breakup…” becauseYOU ASKED FOR IT!
Twenty years later, Tiffany will be a special guest on a telethon Bets is hosting, and says she has a friend with a donation, and asks if her friend can come on the set. Bets agrees, and it turns out to be Gunther, ala the Martin and Lewis reunion on the latter’s MDA telethon. (Bets: So, how ya been? Ya workin’? )
? Gunther doesn’t “deserve this” so she’s dumping him?
All of this sudden about-face by Bets makes sense only if she’s as cold-hearted and opportunistic as her worst haters have said she is. By this line of reasoning, Bets ‘n’ Gun was losing money so she came back to Pittsville with dreams of reviving its popularity with a dramatic online reunion with Gun. When that blew up in her face, she decided to close down the whole enterprise, with the lamest of excuses to Gunther.
I’m not buying it, but that’s what GnK have done.
Unless GnK insert another sudden about-face and bring them back together again.
More likely, it’s GnK’s way of writing Bets out of the comic, for good.
What. None of you have felt you are the toxic person in a relationship and need to leave for the benefit of the other? Lucky you. Time for Bets to reevaluate her priorities, without making someone wait it out for her. Is it running away? Yes. Is that bad? Dunno. But I wouldn’t say this is entirely a selfish act on her part.
Somehow, I wasn’t expecting it to end like this for Gunther. I thought she would fight to keep the relationship. Personally, I think there’s someone out there that’s more compatible for him.
This story arc is following the plot thread of every bad rom-com. Relationships end because of misunderstandings, inability to communicate, assumptions made on partial observations … the audience winds up shouting at the screen at the idiot characters.
So Bets proves she also doesn’t listen very well. Although Gun didn’t really speak up and explain what he’s unhappy about. But then he’s never been very assertive.
Maybe Bets realizes she has an addiction and is leaving to deal with it? She can’t continue seeking validation from fickle vlog followers. And she cannot be in a relationship with Gun or anyone else if she isn’t in a healthy space with herself.
This seems melodramatic to me. I hope this is not the true ending for them. It feels clunky and contrived. She clearly feels that she is to blame for all his woes and that he would be better off without her. Sad. If he truly cares for her he needs to speak up NOW. If he just lets her walk away then he’s basically saying that it IS all her fault. That’s not entirely true, as he should have made his feelings of discomfort known long before now. They should have had this talk a long time ago with both parties expressing themselves honestly. If it has to end they both need to have at least had a dog in the fight.
Too bad about that. I liked Bets, and I thought that she and Gunther really complemented each other. She brought out changes in Gunth that were good for him.
And Stefanie needs a good hard kick in the pants. Or three or four.
Hang on a second! I’m confused. “No greater love has a girl for her beau than she throw him away ’cause she loves him so much”? Should we see Bets as that self-sacrificing? At least she did cool Stef’s jets, though….
November 11, Tiff rightly tells Bets “Take care of your man!” Since then, Bets wrongly assumed Gunther and Luann are a couple, IGNORED everything Guns said then dumped him because she got worked up by comments on HER video log.
Saturday better be more than Bets driving off, or I’m demoting her to ‘selfish git’ status.
Some good news (at least I think it is): For those of you hoping Gunther would grow a spine and hoping that it’s not the end of Bets and Gun, hop on over to Arcamax if you can’t wait for tomorrow’s strip. . .

I hope they DON’T somehow instantly solve all their issues in the Saturday strip. They should accept they’ve got a lotta compatibility issues to unpack and, at best, desperately need time apart to consider if being together is the right choice. I know some people are very Pro-Bets/Gun (Bunther? Guts? Buns?), but I think we all know the healthy option after witnessing the last few months worth of stories. Yesterday, we saw that neither can even keep convincing themselves they’re happy anymore.
The way Stef’s constantly spewing annoying, tone-deaf things two days in a row without Gunther or Bets addressing her is unintentionally hilarious to me. She’s so cartoonishly demented while twisting the knife on their failed relationship as much as humanly possible. No one at the party is doing anything at all to encourage her have the bare minimum of social graces. Honestly, it’s like she’s a court jester whose presence is being actively ignored and it kind of makes me laugh that it’s juxtaposed with this heavy relationship drama.
Also, I’ve got a very delayed realization: why’d Stef even GET an invite to the party anyway? Didn’t she call Tiffany and Dez fat to when she got back to the dorm? They let her walk all over them, at some point they kind of welcome her nonsense by including her.

Let’s not forget that part of the motivation to go on the road was the rules imposed by Gunther’s mother and Mr. Gray. Nothing suggests that this has changed and it is doubtful that Gunther is about to stand up to them.

Re-reading the last couple of weeks, I think Bets thinks Gunther is on a date with Luann, despite the advice from Tiff to the contrary and the denials from Gunther and Luann.
We the readers know that’s wrong, but what Bets sees matches up with her suspicions about Luann dating back to when Luann was behaving like a completely oblivious idiot on Bets and Gunther’s first date.
So, instead of a happy reunion for The Fans, it appears to be a breakup based mostly on a series of misunderstandings (zzz). The Fans are gone, but they were fair weather voyeurs anyhow…easily replaced in the long run.
If it is The End, I’ll miss Bets…unless she returns to school and remains part of the dorm group, in which case I’ll look forward to seeing her there, and finding out how she reinvents her income, if that ever shared.

The message I’m getting is that Bets lives on social media. If she’s ended Bets N’ Gun, she done with Gunther. If you know the Jack Lemmon/Virna Lisi 1965 movie How To Murder Your Wife (which, though it doesn’t actually involve a murder at all, probably which could not be made in 2023), it’s the same theme – if someone’s collapsed their public and private lives, they’re very hard then to uncollapse.

OK. Let me see if I can follow this. On Saturday (our time) Bets is planning on a great reunion with Gunther. Steph posts a picture of Gunther with Luann causing all kinds of comments from their followers. On Monday, Tiff tries to let Bet knows what is actually happening, calling Steph an idiot. Bets, looking very angry replies, “No, I am” and heads into the party. Many of her fans in the real world expected fireworks between Bets and Steph, but that’s not the G&K way, so instead Bets sees what harm her podcast is doing to Gunther and does a very mature thing, killing the Bets N Gun podcast. (BTW, since she started it she didn’t need anyone’s permission to kill it.)The next part puzzles me. She says “Goodby Gunther Berger”, meaning we’re done. There’s nothing to point out that she planned on breaking up with Gun, based on Monday and other days before, so she must think she’s doing the best thing for Gunther. Mature in that she shows that she does care for Gunther, immature in that she doesn’t listen to Gun’s feelings or thoughts. Bottom line, I feel like I’ve been played by Karen and Gregg as they decided to write off Bets and this is the best idea they came up with.

I’m really hoping that this issue between Gunther and Bets get resolved amicably. I’ve been putting up with the stress ever since the two of them split and Bets took off in the van. The story has been intense, but I read comics to relax, not bite my nails. I’ve pretty much resolved to stop reading the strip if the issue isn’t brought to a reasonable conclusion, or (even worse) dropped with no resolution at all. Right now, it’s like anticipating Brad getting killed by a bus while saving a toddler from the same fate. Needless to say, not too many of your readers are going to be smiling when this is over. Prove me wrong.

Tiffany, Luann or even Les. End “BetsNGun” was definitely something that took a lot of courage, but she can’t leave like this. Taking the blame for everything and rejecting any chance to make amends because she has to be punished and suffer. I don’t think that she will get into her van to disappear or that she will go back to college, but that she will go to her parents, who she can’t stand. I really hope Tiffany stops Bets from going out.

But questions linger and why am I a little reminded of the time she ran off leaving Gun alone at Weenie World after he told her that he loved her? In her mind that was not supposed to happen and I’m wondering if her outburst on having missed Gunth and the hug were genuine. I think they were. If this is indeed the end to the relationship between Bets and Gunther, then the next person on whom Gunther needs to set his relationship sights is….GUNTHER. There is way too much angst about “Gunther and (enter name of significant other here)”. Gunther needs to work on developing Gunther so that he does not need a “significant other” to help him feel complete. Only then will he be ready to pursue a true and lasting relationship with someone else…and not necessarily someone that we have already met in the strip. And it should also happen without the advice/involvement of his mother; I think that that is part of the problem.
I also think that completely ignoring Stef and her antics is the absolute best way to handle her. Nothing will upset her more than to be treated as persona non grata. The entire cast of the strip should “cancel” her with extreme prejudice. (Hey, Stef…will Kip be there when you get back?) And, again…why is she even there in the first place, unless it is only to be the antagonist?
As for Bets…I agree that she is an interesting and likable character, but her emotional instability is off the charts, and social media addiction is driving her personality as well as her interaction with other people face-to-face. She needs help. She and Gunther are better off without each other…at least for a while. Maybe in the future, after they have each worked through their existing character flaws, they could come together again and try “Bets ’n Gun v.2: A Real Relationship, Not An Internet Un-Reality Show.”
Now…let’s bring this arc in for a landing and move on to more interesting pursuits.

I have to ignore all the coments until I give my take. This is not the end, its a cliffhanger. It’s a complete setup. At least in my opinion. The funny thing is, all the negative comments mirror so many in this and other blogs on Luann, and while this is to be expected as part of human nature, heree it’s focused mostly, negatively on Bets. so the Bets haters are happy. But this strip is the home of misdirection, paticularly for those who are so basically into the strip; which means it’s open for projection of one’s own feelings. I project (yes I admit) positively for Bets, who while imperfect, has a remarkably sensitive and mature side, along with that emotion, but then I know many here would totally fall down laughing at this. What will determine what happens is in the mind of the strip creators, but you can be sure there will be cliffhaangers. Will this continue Monday, or have a new arc? Lets see what happens Saturday first. I think Gunther will/should man up and go get his woman, but we’ll see (go get in the sense of convincing her how much he loves her for her and does not care about the social media. All of this sudden about-face by Bets makes sense only if she’s as cold-hearted and opportunistic as her worst haters have said she is. By this line of reasoning, Bets ‘n’ Gun was losing money so she came back to Pittsville with dreams of reviving its popularity with a dramatic online reunion with Gun. When that blew up in her face, she decided to close down the whole enterprise, with the lamest of excuses to Gunther.

What. None of you have felt you are the toxic person in a relationship and need to leave for the benefit of the other? Lucky you. Time for Bets to reevaluate her priorities, without making someone wait it out for her. Is it running away? Yes. Is that bad? Dunno. But I wouldn’t say this is entirely a selfish act on her part.

Somehow, I wasn’t expecting it to end like this for Gunther. I thought she would fight to keep the relationship. Personally, I think there’s someone out there that’s more compatible for him.

This story arc is following the plot thread of every bad rom-com. Relationships end because of misunderstandings, inability to communicate, assumptions made on partial observations … the audience winds up shouting at the screen at the idiot characters.

Maybe Bets realizes she has an addiction and is leaving to deal with it? She can’t continue seeking validation from fickle vlog followers. And she cannot be in a relationship with Gun or anyone else if she isn’t in a healthy space with herself.

This seems melodramatic to me. I hope this is not the true ending for them. It feels clunky and contrived. She clearly feels that she is to blame for all his woes and that he would be better off without her. Sad. If he truly cares for her he needs to speak up NOW. If he just lets her walk away then he’s basically saying that it IS all her fault. That’s not entirely true, as he should have made his feelings of discomfort known long before now. They should have had this talk a long time ago with both parties expressing themselves honestly. If it has to end they both need to have at least had a dog in the fight.

Too bad about that. I liked Bets, and I thought that she and Gunther really complemented each other. She brought out changes in Gunth that were good for him.
And Stefanie needs a good hard kick in the pants. Or three or four.

November 11, Tiff rightly tells Bets “Take care of your man!” Since then, Bets wrongly assumed Gunther and Luann are a couple, IGNORED everything Guns said then dumped him because she got worked up by comments on HER video log.
Saturday better be more than Bets driving off, or I’m demoting her to ‘selfish git’ status.
