So this is how G&K are going to fill out the week. Bets sasys, “I love you but I’m no good, you deserve Luann.” and Gunther’s saying, “I want you, I need you. Who’s Luann?” and Luann is saying “I’m not his girlfriend!” Meanwhile Stef is like “I’m scott free!”

PLEASE can’t we get some consistency in this strip? Someone call a Script Doctor STAT!

They’re not a couple!!! Yet!

Wait, I thought it was Tara who was into skydiving with Piro, not Bets with Gunther . . . I think these plot threads are starting to unravel here.

Well, this explains why there was no kissing yesterday.

So… are Bets and Gunther agreeing to be friends cause… I dunno what else I can gather from his “girlfriend” who he haven’t communicated with in months enthusiastically giving her blessing for him to couple up with another woman. Especially with compliments like “homes, predictable, and safe.” You know, the things every young guy vies to be called.

Also, Seriously who at this party HASN’T told Gunther and Luann to become a couple? Even Bets? It’s like the whole cast has ganged up to push them into settling for each other.

I gotta say I got a chuckle out of Luann’s dialogue in panel 3 coming off like, “Oh Gawd, NO! I’m not into boring, predictable Gunther, Bets! (I’ve never been as desperate you ;P lol). Me? I’d rather jump out a plane miles up in the air and challenge death than date him! Really!” Gotta love the consistency, Luann has been dodging his advances since junior high.

Okay, this is definitely a curveball. Is Bets using this as a nice way of dumping Gunther kind of like Rosa did except, she is pointing out that Luann is good for him along with the fact that Gunther needs the security of home and that their lives lie on different paths just as Rosa did? Did the photo make her realize that the G-Man and her are simply too different or is Bets so insecure that she thinks that she pushed Gunther away when she chose to stay on the road but still wants to be with him?

Frame One: Les is trying to whip some charm on Luann. Not a good match however.

The Gunther’s Alter Ego wants to be spontaneous and chaotic that rebels against his upbringing of being homey like his mother’s personality. Gunther grow up without a father figure!

Gunther needs to get Bets out of there and take her somewhere they can talk without being interrupted. But that won’t happen, because we need to see what everyone else will do to try to influence the outcome — will people say, “We sure thought they were a couple!” or “Gunther’s been interested in Luann since eighth grade”? Will Luann protest too much (instead of bowing out, as she had seemed to do)? We forget that a comic strip has to be funny, so more hijinks will have to ensue at the party before Bets is convinced…and that still doesn’t mean they’ll stay together.

So we’re going to stay on the “We’re not a couple” theme for awhile!

This must have been a real shock for Bets because she’s not acting like she has throughout her tenure in the strip!

So is bets giving the okay for Luann and Gunther to be a couple. Panel 3 Luann says “Just FYI, I’M Going Skydiving”

Leslie Knox is trying to charm Luann Degroot again?

Oops! Big U-turn there. I definitely didn’t see this coming and it isn’t in line with how Bets was acting when she was talking with Tiff in the van. Is she expecting Gun to beg to get back together? Crazy making time

So it IS looking like GnK are bringing Luann and Gunther towards the status as a couple and Gunther, you’re protesting too much about not being a couple…you know what they say about protesting too much. It also looks like Bets realizes why she and Gunther did not work. Why she chose the road in the first place. Now she realizes she came back to Gunther not because she missed him…but because road life is lonely. Doing it alone is lonely. She just need a companion. she knows Gunther is not her companion if she wants to continue with the road life So, will she stay for Gunther or hit the road again and find her new companion?

Looks like 1212 just got his midweek misdirection play.

Apparently, Bets will never be able to free herself from the networks, if someone thinks something without context for her it must be true. And Gunther imposes so little that no one believes him. This plot twist feels very anticlimactic.

Cute detail…as the evening wears on, Luann’s Dolly Parton hair is losing its curl. She’s had enough and needs to go home.

Bets, listen. Luann said that she isn’t Gunther’s gal. Gunther said that they are not a couple. Is Bets going to assume that Gunther means that he and Bets are not a couple? So they will either stay together or Bets will be driving off toward the sunrise, never to be seen in this strip again.

Rosa realized that Gunther was a “Homey, Predictable and Safe” character and gave his walking papers to return without Rosa!

The strips flow better with Toni and Brad, and their pseudo daughter Shannon(that kid seems more mature than Bef).

Bets has commitment issues. I know all about that.

How long’s it gonna take for ‘you to be you’ an ‘you to be you’ before they can move forward together or have we actully reached that point?

People! STOP mentally masturbating and just enjoy the story for what is as it unfolds.

So are Bets and Luanne playing “hot potato” with Gunther?

Well, that went…about as well as expected.

Nothing kills a woman’s attraction for a man quicker than once she decides that he’s “predictable“. Also, “homey” and “safe” are other words for “boring”, which is another huge killer. I guess now we know why there was no kissing yesterday… Just hugs.

This is brilliant writing and an answer, think, to a dilemma that GnK had seemingly painted themselves into when they brought a tempestous, strong-willed, smart, but obnoxious (yes she was pretty obnoxious with the social media, even if we are using it NOW) Black girl into the strip to be the girlfriend of the legacy characrer, Gunther. Most posters don’t care, only a few have been outright racist, but what bothered this poster was how she was hated beyond all reson because of what? Selfishness, social media, using Gunther? Well, as I thought today’s Wednesday panels obviate all of that with the brilliant expository device of having Bets express her feelings for Gunther, in front of everyone, renounce, to some extent, her social media obession (only to have Steph seem to enjoy it here, that is probably going to be dealt with next, I think) whille today she states an obvious truth, both Gunther and Luann are fundamentally different in their lives than Bets, although Luann, if she would just grow up, has some adventure in her; they’re boring, risk adverse (not really Luann as she is going skydiving to impress Walt/Piro and beat or equal Tara’s implicit taunt), good kids, who’ve known each other since grammar school, so they’d make a good couple as Bets put it, Boring! And one other point, opposites attract in this strip, and Bets and Gunther are clearly attrated to each other. Luann is not the person who can do something with Gunther’s passivity, beside loving the honest soul he is,, but she needs a man who brings her adventurous side out. Bets meets those deep needs that the overly protected momma’s boy needs to slay in the tech world though. She is a battler.

Well, it certainly looks like even Bets thinks that Luann and Gunther are now a couple.

Bets also thinks Gunther and Luann are together? This is really annoying for Gunther! Everyone is sure that he’s cheating on Bets, even Bets! Let’s hope Gunther will be able to clarify the misunderstanding once for all. Meanwhile, Luann feels rightly insulted by hearing that her life is predictable. I really hope that starting to follow the Stars cousins in their adventures will help change the idea that others have of her. Can’t wait to read the arc where they go skydiving.

This is November 15th of the October Halloween Party. It’s going to be weird if this is going on during Thanksgiving.

perhaps this is Bets throwing out a test of loyalty having seen the pic. Guys like Gun need women like Bets; they complement each other. But Bets is (perhaps) trying to be sure of that. I can’t think of a more boring pair than Gun and Luann.

I think Bets wants you two to be a couple. For. Some. Reason.

If Bernice were here, she’d angrily berate Gunther for having the nerve to pick Luann.

Heck, for that matter, that’s all she thinks of Luann, which in My IMHO, is not much. In fact, some would call that an INSULT.

Bets has had “Carefree, Wild, and Unpredictable” guys in her life who ended up hurting her by turning into “Liars and Cheaters. You’d think she’d learn something by now, but NOPE.

I don’t think Bets will ever learn. Some of Us have predicted she won’t.

Honestly, best Gunther could do right now is wish Bets well on her journey as she gets back in the van. And “promise” to remain “just friends.”

On a different note, I think We caught a glimpse of the next arc: Luann Goes Skydiving.

Not only did she JUST SEE how full of manure social media is, she seems to can’t help believing it.Gunther seems to fall for women who, in the process of being true to themselves, can’t seem to be with him while they do that.When he finds one who can be their own person and still be with him – then he’ll be set.I’m not sure that’s any character in the comic that we’ve seen yet.If all the characters were all grown up and had their lives figured out, there would be no more comic left.

Luann resents being described as homey, predictable and safe. The comment (coming from someone other than Bern) might wake her up.

I, for one, am enjoying this.

I agree it’s time for certain people to leave if all they’re gonna do is complain. Such comments have already driven several fans of the strip to stop commenting for fear of being attacked for defending the strip. If you enjoy reading, fine, but to always harp on the characters and plot serves no useful purpose. If you don’t enjoy the strip for what it is then go away and WRITE YOUR OWN FAN FICTION any way you want to do it! I think you’ll find writing and drawing a daily comic strip is no easy task.

They’re talking, that’s a start! Whether they stay together or not, and whether Gunther and Luann end up together or not, it needs to be something decided while talking openly.

Each made their choices for whatever reasons. I don’t think either are ready for a long term relationship. Gunther has been adventurous, but realizes he needs to prepare for the future. Bets is more shortsighted and in the moment adventurist. Luann doesn’t know what she wants. To thine own self be true! But maybe not in this strip! ;-)

The comments section of this strip is so toxic, I joined GoComics just to chew you out. Do you not realize that all the recent strips about Bets and her insane online followers are aimed directly at you? The creators are getting back in the only way they can.Anybody who does work in installments, from Charles Dickens to Charles Schultz, would have given up in a month if they’d had to put up people kvetching at every single thing they did. When Bets says “I get why you’d pick Luann”, she means she understands why Gunther would pick Luann, in a hypothetical way. You’d = You Would. Bets knows they are not together, but sees why Gunther could possibly find Luann a suitable partner. Both Gunther and Bets still think they are a couple, so of course Gunther would not be dating Luann.

Well, I wasn’t expecting this response from Bets. This is going weird.

Bets is not breaking up with Gunther and he will not break up with her. They are just acknowledging their different personality types. Bets is a little insulting to Luann when she says that Luann would be well suited to Gunther’s boring nature.

This strip is turning into a soap opera.

This is so normal yet not. Bets is being honest, she’s confused, wants what’s best for the love of her life and doesn’t plan on being an unwanted 3rd wheel.

Well Ok, knew it (was) only Tuesday. My thrill ride to took a dip instead of curve this time. So Thursday Gun is pleading we’re not. Friday Bets goes huh? Saturday they makeup? Or fate pushes Gun and Lunann together…??? Naaaawww, no way that’s happening.

And just when we thought the matter was all settled…

Is Betts such a “social media” believer that she takes what everyone posts as gospel? She wants to be an influencer (or, is she one already?) Betts should know better.

C’mon, Bets, let’s do the TWIST! Team Evans set us up for that one: just as we think Bets is making up with Gunny, she declares Luann fit to make a couple with him. Lulu cries “skydiving!” and Gunther whimpers (he’s been down this road). And so we’re back to where we started….

Do I see Les and Luann having an actual “chat” in the background? There’s a story…Les goes good guy to win the gal. lol
