My family lost two aunts and our uncle within a year’s time and I remember my mom’s youngest sister at Christmas feeling sad at losing three of her remaining siblings so close to each other. My mother had died a few years earlier, so she was the last of her immediate family.

We had a pony who could hear my car as soon as I turned onto our road; even before l even reached our 500’ driveway (in my profile photo)

Unfortunately, it happens far too often. I live in the country and worked at a farm where people think it’s ok to leave unwanted cats and dogs. Most of our cats have been strays, abandoned or surrendered by previous owners and our last dog was abandoned in our neighborhood. The worst story I know is about a cat my cousin heard crying from an ally near his home. When went to check it out, he discovered her with all four legs tied together in a burlap bag and dumped in a trash can. He took her home and named her Isis and she had 7 toes on each foot. She was pregnant at the time and we adopted one of her kittens; a black polydactyl like his mother whom we named Ebony.

We had a neutered male who started spraying when a neighbor’s cat sprayed our porch. Luckily, it doesn’t stick like an intact male does.

But in the third panel, he reaches for the stick with his right hand.

We had a Jack Russell terrier who could wake us out of a deep sleep with one of her farts and her mother used to like to eat grasshoppers which made hers very stinky afterwards.
