This and today’s F&E. But most of all, THANKS for the English language and its infinite variety of words and their even more (can infinite be more?) infinite meanings.
My wife is entranced with the snow and cold weather. She loves to watch all those shows about life in Alaska. Of course, she’s never in her life had to live in those conditions! She doesn’t know what a backbreaking chore shoveling snow can be, or what a thrill it is to try to drive to work on icy roads!
To all my friends in those cold climes, suffering through winter, I feel your pain. Been there, done that.
Very appropriate today, with almost 2 feet of new snow in my yard. About to leave for work and see how the roads are. All plowed out. Thank goodness for great neighbors with plows!
Happy Groundhogs Day! My father, who held an MS in meteorology and a PhD in physical oceanography, ruined the fun of Groundhogs Day for me when I was in the 4th grade. He told me that no matter whether or not the groundhog saw his shadow, that spring would start in 6 weeks. February 2 marks the halfway point of winter, and there are exactly six weeks left to spring. So, yes, spring is “right around the [six week] corner”. Those of you who just had a significant snow fall, get out of your COVID lockdown and enjoy it! Let your face mask keep you warm.
Dad also ruined St. Patrick’s day when he told me our Irish ancestors were Protestant land owners, so we were orange Irish, not green. “Daddy Downer”

It should be ‘a’ spring is just around the corner; and he’d be right.

After all Trump’s “just around the corner” promises, we should all know not to expect anything good.

Better for physical health than a fall being around that corner.

We’ve had moderate temperatures and very little snow the past few months. I feel like winter has finally arrived, and I intend to enjoy it.

Okay, I could SO do that with a slinky. About the only thing I can think of to do with a slinky, really.
