The Latin word sinistra originally meant “left” but took on meanings of “evil” or “unlucky” by the Classical Latin era, and this double meaning survives in European derivatives of Latin, and in the English word “sinister”. So left-handedness was considered evil or unfortunate. The opposite is the word “dexter” which mean meant “right”. I’m suggesting here that the left arm is missing out on tones or colour because it’s unlucky but may be considered evil by it’s owner. It’s just a pun. :)
