It’s a relief to see our earlier-in-the-arc speculations about the yet-to-be-named Mona were accurate. She’s polite, brave, and celebrates puns. Love her.
Kat-Mandu: There is a reply from Queen Mags, Your Majesty.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: Thank you, most noble Papyrus Cat.
Elvis-Anum: I get it. There really is a Papyrus Cat.
Kat-Mandu: And it’s me, Elvis. Actually there are several of us throughout the land.
Puckmosis: What does Her Majesty Queen Mags say, Your Majesty?
Queen Goldie: She writes:
Dear Queen Cat, It has been too long since we’ve had a visit. I would love to see you and your entourage at your convenience. We look forward to your visit, and so does the Head Librarian, Beaver Lee Cleary. See you soon, Mags.
Beatrixia: I’ve already told Kara and Vann it’s Hump Day again. And it’s not even Wednesday.
I was really struck by how small Princess Magazine is next to Queen Magnet. Had thought Princess Magazine, when next to her younger brothers, was almost grown – a raccoon in her mid to late teens (or equivalent). But she must be younger although still the eldest of the grandchildren.
I’ve decided her anthem is “Mony, Mony.” Well she makes me feel (Mona, Mona)So! (Mona, Mona)Good! (Mona, Mona)Yeah! (Mona, Mona)So good! (Mona, Mona)Oh, yeah! (Mona, Mona)Dig on! (Mona, Mona)All right, Mona (Mona, Mona)— Tommy James and the Shondells/written by Bo Gentry and Ritchie CordellFun fact: he was looking for a catchy title/hook (like of the time) and was in NYC. He was stuck and went outside and looked up, and saw the Mutual of New York building … and the rest is an earworm!
I cannot wait to see how this plays out, raccoons working with the mole mole and the mole resistance to bring down Montague and the mole monarchy. Whew, that’s a lot of m’s.
Okay, we have an active 5th Column in the Mole hegemony. A mole mole might be helpful. However, you have to worry about double agents, a mole mole mole, as it were. And, don’t forget about moles from other locations, like Mexican Moles, made with hot chiles, rich chocolate, onion, garlic, herbs, and tomatillos. Also, be sure to get any moles on your skin checked out as soon as possible to make sure they aren’t cancer…I’m sorry, what were we talking about? Ah, the nurse is here with my medication, and she said it is time for a nap.
So, is this how the Mole war is going to be won, through subterfuge and underground resistance, an uprising against the dictator? It’s a good solution. Hopefully less damaging to everything around.
While I am absolutely loving all the mole puns, I must change the topic slightly. Today is Pucky’s day! (And my Luna’s, etc.) It’s National Black Cat Appreciation Day! Go check out “Day by Dave” for today on gocomics.

I like Mona’s fashion sense. It takes a special soul to look great in both a sash and flamboyant headscarf — she really swashes that buckle!

Careful! She could be a double agent, sent by the moles to get an … er… inside informer into their camp. If she is, they are doomed.

Might as well just surrender to that earworm now… Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa men have called you…

Ooh, a little pretty one, pretty one
Are you gonna help stop woodland crime, mole Mona?
Ooh, you hardly see the sun, the warm bright sun
So now it’s time for you to shine, mole Mona
Never gonna stop, don’t give up, on your mission kind
You can share what’s on poor Montague’s angry mixed up mind
Ay, ay, ay, ah, yi, woo!
Oh, my, my, my, my, mole Mona
Mmh, ohh, sweet mole Mona
