Thank you for reminding me that my life is not grey. Life is full of choices and luck. (Good and bad.) I chose to move away from the traffic jams (literally and figuratively) and had some good luck along with some bad. I have no real reason to complain and life is better when I remember how good it is.
I guess I should be thankful that I have a job that I generally enjoy and don’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic because I live close enough to walk there during non-quarentine times.
I was always a “working stiff”……working jobs day in and day out. Surviving the weekend to make it back to work on Monday. Never could afford a vacation to Cancun, but did manage to get to Florida once a year for Bike Week. No fancy hotels….BYOB & tent! That was pretty much my life and working career…….but I’m blessed. I’ve had ten years of retirement and I get to watch the sunset nearly every day. Like last night…sun going down, sitting outside in my lawn chair drinking a beer, looking out across a frozen lake here in northernmost Maine, and a small skein of Canadian Geese fly over…..as they say, “Priceless!”
I’ve been following this strip too long. As soon as I saw her name I was expecting the strip to lead to her death, with the clergy at the funeral chanting “Ash’s to ashes”…
Ashley must have a very short commute or a late start time at the office if she’s getting up at 6:30. Before COVID WFH, I was already on the train at 6:30. (and I used to walk uphill to school, both directions)
I worked at one place for over 34years, when they sold and I lost my job I received 22k in back vacation pay. I wish now I would have taken the time to enjoy life. How can you vacation when you have no job ?
I would like to try to get on Facebook and make posts of misery just for the lols (“here’s me burning dinner!”). But I guess people who know me would worry, and people who don’t would just troll me.
I don’t know about Facebook (never used it, never will), but I’ve come to the conclusion that Twitter can be defined as “the forum for those who have absolutely, positively nothing to say and can say it loudly and repeatedly.” I suspect Facebook is much the same.
Hmm. Works at a job that involves meetings in conference rooms. Sound professional. Therefore definitely not running a cash register in a Kroger’s or similar dead-end, low-pay, fluctuating-hours, no-benefits job of the kind that millions of people have.
This was my life a couple of years ago minus the kids and the vacation. I was at a job I hated but then the company closed. I then found a job that I love. I’ve been there for 2 years. Made some great friends and have cut down on my stress
