You might want to get out of your bubble. The United States A. was never that perfect (slaves, Native Americans read some history) and B. is not as fine as it used to be.

She should certainly think it over (hard) and consult someone other than her ex. Maybe a counselor, but not Dr. Noodle.

Since you are not a millionaire, no one cares what you say when you start using personal attacks.

You did… Apology accepted. The point is socialism is government planned economy and crap. It does not work. China’s “Great Leap Forward” and the USSR’s various 5 and 10 year plans show that and if the East Germans couldn’t make it work, no one can. It doesn’t matter what “he said” there is a lot of misunderstanding of the term on both left and right in the U.S. Social Democracy is different. What I said above…

You could have drawn the cartoon using how things in East Germany really were 50 years ago. I’m not sure I’d be convince of your point by that either though. Politics will never be perfect and we really do need to make the steps that we can not live in fantasy.

So when you can’t support what you have said, you change the subject. I’m not interested in playing that game.

Try reading my comment again. You didn’t seem to get the point the first time.

“Nope. They are perfect. That’s why the world always turns to them in times of international need.”

If you are talking about military power you have to remember that the list of countries together doesn’t have half the population of the U.S. On the other hand, per capita those countries (and you can add Germany to the list) do more to help non-military “international need” than the U.S. at least since the 1980’s

Further to be clear. These countries are not socialist. There seems to be a lack of understanding about what socialism is — both on the Right and Left in America. No politician in any Federal office is calling for socialism. What is working in many west European countries is various degrees of Social Democracy. It doesn’t involve general control of the economy by the government, just help to the people who need it the most and a little restraint on the people who need that the most.

They are talking about our democratically elected Federal Government.
