Sadly, a non-trivial portion of what we think of as history is almost as fictitious. That’s what happens when it gets written by the victors and the privileged.

Sometimes it feels like there is a list of suggestions or some secret newsletter that cartoonists get that has suggestions for any given day. Doonesbury also dealt with alien visitors today.

None of her teachers are like the ones I grew up with. In my time, such a vivid imagination would be applauded and she might be put in the gifted class. Of course, she’d still have to get good marks on her history tests, too, in addition to her imagination.

As a refugee from the blackboard jungle, I would have given her an A and told her to take some creative writing classes at UCLA. Then I would have told her to Google: how much money did Seth MacFarlane make for Family Guy. Then I would have told her to Google: Who is the highest paid screenwriter in the world.

There’s a reason they call it History – because it’s all His story!

No two people remember an event the same way. Everything is viewed through our own filters – which may seem true to us, but are not usually an accurate, historical record.

If she were to tell the truth of the Native Americans helping the invader/colonisers survive the first TWO winters without all dying off and then being thanked with their being slaughtered and driven to almost extinction her parents would probably have a meeting with the principal as well.

Funny there is no mention of the witches works and the ghouls brought to the old “new” lands. No mention of the Witch Wars and Indian magick wars conjuring up monsters to help and to fight each other.

Beware of the “devilpedes” that the Massasoit sent to the Puritans to run them out and failed. Then they used the wraiths too and failed again. The magicks of the whites is strong." Said Hu-ho-dusee.

I want to hear the story about the witches sending fire breathing giant centipedes to the Puritans an for the Pilgrims had to fight off giant meat-eating turkeys along with the dark wraiths the local Wampanoag Indians conjured to remove them from their lands….G’qoulc a Massasoit ghoul told them about it. He was said to be over 300 years old!

In the Diné legend of Turkey (not the Turkish nation, of course, but the American bird), Turkey is the one creature who saves history and stories to take along when all of them have to abandon their world for the next. Or so the stories say.
