Maybe now angry at herself for being fooled into thinking she was getting an apology and refund (although with arms crossed across herself is still showing by body language that she is not approachable). Gunther still looking all apologetic.
Third frame: Gunther shows annoyance at Tiffany for noise that interferes with his effort to talk to Bets. Bets looks at him as though considering the idea that just maybe Gunther isn’t always putting his ‘old friends’ ahead of her after all…

Applause! These 3 characters are having a delicate Push and pull between their motivation, and Their fears. Even bet has shown a kernel of faith in reconciling with Tiffany. Gunther isn’t putting his feelings last. Yes! Everyone is doing their best. It’s a perfect storm of young love. Of course we’re going at a comic speed but that’s Fine. As long This doesn’t unravel at Anne Effil speed, Because that was Painful.
I hope things work out for Bets and Gunth. Like, Bets is entitled to her space after having the L-bomb dropped, but 3 weeks is a LONG time to leave someone hanging on a thread. Even if she’s not ready to say it back or even wants to break, I feel like they’ll both feel a lot better once this resolves one way or another. Closure can be a helluva lot better than leaving things on a question mark, even if things don’t turn out the way you want.
Aw, shoot. Bets sat down. I had hoped she would turn around and stomp to the door and be gone, never to be seen again. And, what, after all those months of ignoring Gunther, she is inclined to sit and talk now? Come on, Bets. Get up and go. We’ll get a new girl for Gunther.
Now we get the drama behind why the “Love” reaction and aftermath but Tiffany has, perhaps more adroitly than she is given credit of being capable, been able to get them together, at the romantic little pagoda of love, while with the tinkling, hilarity ensues ensues. Classic Luannverse formula. Next?
A plotline where Gunther and Tiffany checked out Bets’ social media accounts and found that she’d gone to Hawaii and taken up with Aaron Hill would have been more interesting than this.
Monday Tiffany was trying to get Bets to come into her house. (She should have offered candy). Tuesday they were at the Pagoda of Peace. Does that means the PofP is in her house? And it is not in the house, why was Tiffany so insistent that Bets come inside? I know GnK have only 18 panels a week to tell a story, but maybe if they didn’t make their stories some convoluted they wouldn’t have all these leaps and breaks of continuity in their stories.
Gunther has a point. After weeks of trying to make contact with Bets, it takes a ‘promise’ of an apology and refund from Tiffany to get her to meet. And the way she is talking, you’d think she and Tiff had the lover’s quarrel.
Bets was and still is angry at both of them: She’s mad at Tiffany for not giving her the pirates theme she wanted and she’s mad at gunther for; not sticking up for her and trying to say “i love you” to make her feel guilty or distract her from her anger.
Now bets is even angrier because tiffany lied to her to trick her into coming to some meeting and because Gun went along with it. Tiff and Gun, bets isn’t going to let this go until she feels satisfaction. So tricking her and trying to calm her down will only make it worse.
Oh no. Gunther has shaved! I’m happy that he can finally talk to Bets after weeks, let’s hope they will clear up the situation. Bets wanted an apology from Tiffany, will she be able to apologize to Gunther or does she think that ditching him in a parking lot is a normal thing to do? Tiffany cares so much about him that she stops tinkling right after he tells her. I don’t think she would have done it for anyone else♡.

I thought I had made it very clear to you that money and honesty is important to me and you do not seem to share those values. Oh & Tiff? No, Gunther, because there is no “us”. There’s just you, Bets has no interest in a relationship. You were just one of the tools she was using to get viewers on the internet. All she wants is the money and the apology.
Gunther needs assertiveness training or something. First he allowed Bets to talk him into making those pirate costumes even though he had tests to study for. He let her drag him out of Tiffany’s dinner setup even though he had no problem with it. And now he’s going along with Tiffany’s tricking of Bets even though he clearly didn’t think it was a good idea.
She’s pretty heartless for not even giving him a reason and just walking out on him without a word. It took trickery to just get her to face him which doesn’t say much for her character.
I don’t like Bets; however, she has a point and is being totally ignored.She paid for “Pirates” she didn’t get pirates. That’s an issue. It can be upsetting to not get what you paid for. No body has reached out to her to say sorry or make any suggestions on how to move forward. This is a totally ignored issue. Oh and Gun texting her doesn’t count. He isn’t trying to deal with the pirate stuff. Gun? He has avoided the situation. Yes he did. His entire plan was to ignore the situation. In a very poorly timed move, during an emotional (anger) fueled situation he added his deceleration of love. He changed the topic. He took Bets pirate problem and added to it. He declared love to an upset and angry girl. He ignored the pirates problem, just left it hanging, and switched topics to make it about him. Gun could see that Bets was upset. What was his answer? Ignore her anger and switch topics. Bets is left to consider: How will Gun deal with any “crisis” situation moving forward? We he support me? Will he simply ignore the situation? Will he make the situation about him? (yes, this is what he did by announcing his love). Would you want to declare love for a person that doesn’t support your needs? Even if she really cares for Gun it’s a big decision. When she needed Gun to support her emotionally he crumbled. And now? He jumps up (during a time when the pirate problem is being discussed) and says (basically).. Ignore that schiz and focus on me!!!
Dude, she’s been out of your life for several weeks and When Tiff gets her back she’s STILL on the same grudge? She doesn’t let go of crap, take this for the life lesson it is and walk away.
Okay, now my sympathy (or whatever little was left of it) for Bets is waning. She seems even more self-centred and ill-tempered than Tiff during the (not-so-) good ol’ days.
Not really, Gunther is the adult here, he wants to know what Bets wants if any in a relationship with him. She may have valid reasons for not getting involved with Gunther. He wants answers
I’m with Bets on this deal. I would be giving Tiffany the “if looks could kill” also. Tiffany has finally proven to Bets for once and all that she is a shallow, lying, conniving little witch who can’t be trusted. I would be glad to see Bets kick Tiffany to the curb. Right after that she can kick her groveling, spineless ex boyfriend to the same curb right next to his annoying “other girl”. In fact, I would tell Tiffany she can just have Gunther and that we will be seeing each other in small claims court.
Gunther really blew his chance with Bets. If he really cared about her feelings, he would have insisted Tiffany give her the apology and $300 first and then instructed Tiffany to leave. But as usual he is overlooking what Bets is really mad about and just thinking about himself. If he had resolved the money/refund issue they could have probably had a good conversation….somewhere else and away from stupid Tiffany. Oh but wait he said Bets doesn’t want the money. Obviously she does. Where does he get off?!
If Bets had gotten the refund and apology when she arrived I guarantee you she would have been far more receptive to sitting down and listening to whatever Gunther had to say. But no. Both Gunther and Tiffany are ignoring Bets’ reason for being mad. And Tiffany, that lying witch, could fix this but she won’t because she is a jerk who won’t apologize when she is wrong or give back money she shouldn’t have taken. The way they are making it okay to cheat someone in this story is really making me sick.
The only thing that will redeem Gunther in Bets eyes, would be for him to treat Tiffany the same way Bets has been treating her. I hope Gunther does not do that and instead defends Tiffany and tells Bets to get lost for good.
I have seen very little in the Gun and Bets relationship to date that should cause this level of grovelling on the part of Gunther. Unless, of course, something’s going on in the off strip segments in GnK’s collective mind(s) that keeps Gunther in this relationship.
Bets, on the one hand, continues to be displayed as “dominant, aggressive, bossy,” as described by GnK in the past. Gunther on the other hand has been described in the past, again by GnK, as being “100% pure gentleman. Respectful, decent, kind, honorable” and “the kindest, funniest, sweetest guy.”
Since the misjudgement by Greg’s attempt to purge Gunther from the strip, Gunther has been portrayed as focused on his studies except for being embarrassingly subservient to Bets wants and “needs.” I can’t believe GnK is hinting at some kind of kind of social dominant/submissive relationship. Even the heartfelt mutual love, affection and commitment displayed in the Rosa relationship had limits! Why is this relationship so all-consuming?
I just don’t see it. Is this supposed to be the “dark night of the soul” for Gunther? The debilitating period leading to a new Gunther and a new, healthier relationship environment? Similar to the crushing that Tiffany went through with Ann Eiffel? That, BTW, lead to a new relationship with her father.
Bets knows why Gunther is there and she is still trying to ignore him. Bets owes him an explanation for her rude behavior and then Gunther should tell Bets to get lost for good. Tiffany is being a good friend to Gunther and it looks like her plan is working. Bets is actually sitting down.
Tiffany cracks me up! She does try to help. Bets, on the other hand, has crossed arms and judging from her posture, a closed mind. I fully expect her to say, “There is no US!” I don’t know what Gunther can say to get her to open up and discuss her feelings about the two of them. She wants to be in control all. the. time. Still, I’m hoping ….. ;-)
Hey Gunther, there is no US, only the crazy melodrama that’s always going on between Bets ears!!! She barely knows you’re there, all that she’s focused on is her latest argument and obsessive need to be in control, and always right of course ;-)
Ok. I am still not a fan of much here this whole week.
But, at least I can understand a bit today of why Bets is now further annoyed. The Gunther behind a curtain thing was not a great idea to begin with….. but, with Bets already grouchy even before Gunther squeaked out that he was behind the curtain….. there was no way in hell that this would be looked upon in any way other than how Bets responded.
However…. I still think Bets was not behaving kindly or well earlier in the week. I still think Gunther was rather foolish in the way he has tried to find a way to reconcile with Bets this week. And, I think that Tiffany’s plan was poor in how she got Bets to arrive here, and in what she presumed the end result would be.
In reality…. the whole “Dinner for Two” and “Weenie World Dump” have completely soured me on the Bets & Gun romance and I now hope they seperate/break up. Even with Gunthers’ timidity and Bets’ excessive emphasis on social media…. I had been thinking they were a good match and could do well together. But, I no longer feel this is so.
Bets stayed. So the reconciliation begins. By the end of the week, the Bets and Gun show will be back on. Bets the domineering witch and Gun the spineless, shrivel of a so called “man”. This weeks ‘strip’ is just painful.

What she says next will be her last chance to defend herself.
I cannot decide what I think Gunther should do until I hear the explaination for why she ghosted him and it had better be good. Greg reversed the roles, usually the female says, “I love you. (Lets get married.)” and the male runs like a scalded cat.
I expect Bets to say something like, “Gunther, I’m sorry I ghosted you But, I could not talk to you until I sorted out my feelings for you. Gunther, I don’t love you, and I don’t see us together for the rest of our lives. BUT, I do have a deep affection for you, you are a great guy and a fun companion. For as long as it lasts, I want to be part of your life and I want you to be part of mine. Knowing that one day (and that day may never come) one of us will walk away. Is that acceptable to you?”
Would that Gunther have an epiphany, turn toward Tinkle Belle Tiff and behold his Cinderella! Gunther would be ecstatic with his future. Leave the gulag behind. Move into the mega manse with the and devote his time to his studies, gourmet dining, providing “Sheraton St. Louis” with original haute couture and dot-dot-dot.
Tiff would get the advantage of Gman’s loyal devotion and his intellect and advice would turn her mogul-icious ideas into franchiseable products.
I’m with Bets on this. IF this is about getting Bets talking to Gunther then why is tiff using a chime to interrupt and tell her to shut up in the name of “peace”? That seems like a great way to raise her defenses and make her concerns feel unheard. Given Bet’s issues seem to stem largely from Tiffany (understandably. Tiff can be a pill.), I think Bets would do well to address Tiff directly making it very clear that she (Bets) is breaking up with her (Tiffany), walk, and see if Gunther follows.
Also, tiff needs to issue Bets a full refund & apology if she ever wants Bets to trust her again. If Bets can’t trust her, I don’t blame Bets for not wanting her guy, Gunther, around Tiff.
I love the Luann strip, but Mr. Evans does not seem to be a fan of the lasting relationship. Aside from Luann’s parents and Brad/Toni, who in that strip has a stable, happy romantic relationship?
And how many times do we have to be told how so many people are ‘not the right one’. Is it really impossible in Greg Evan’s universe for, say Bernice, Ox, Luann, TJ or Tiffany to find someone who loves and respects them for who they are? Come, the Real World is 70% suck but real people make love work all around us. I’d like to see a few more success stories, Mr. Evans.
Finally, a bit perplexed at the hate directed at Bets here. Tiff has her father’s money back. She can issue a refund easily. Bets, as far as we know, is doing what tiff is only studying, without parental guidence, and doing it WAY better than Tiff as she is making a profit and not pissing off her one customer. That $300 refund is not going to mean much to Tiff, but it may mean covering rent or business expenses to Bets. Gunth does not seem to respect that, and that is worth walking away from him.
A good question was raised by user @conundrum at the Comic Strip Club:
I haven’t been following this strip too long; does Tiff have a crush on Gunther or a vendetta against him he doesn’t know about, or some other explanation why she would make sure Bets is as pissed off as possible going into this conversation?
Next week we see Tiffany, Luann and Bernice walking through the mansion. As they exit into the garden Luann turns to Tiff and says “So this is where it all happened, huh?”
I remember the prior argument between Gunther & Bets: In front of everyone, Gunther blurted out the entire truth about Tiffany missing class. Bets tried to explain to Gunther that sometimes telling the truth can do more harm than good. Gunther then tried to justify his compulsion to blab – and Bets told Gunther to shut up – a good response in my opinion. However this time around (the pirate dinner party) Bets had a good case, but her response was unnecessarily extreme. I took that as a signal that other things were wrong in the relationship. We’ll see if the relationship can be improved and move forward.
Nah. Bets is still p*ssed at being manipulated. And rightly so. Her silence spoke volumes, but Gunther was too dense to hear it. Just let her go, Gunther. This isn’t going to end well.
Wow! Bets is behaving very badly here. She’s completely ignoring Gunther and acting like he means less than NOTHING to her. It’s like they’ve never had any kind of relationship at all. All her attention and her vitriol is directly only at Tiffany. Not good. Gunther needs to thank his lucky stars she’s taken herself out of his life. She is unworthy of him.
They got two days before the irrelevant Sunday strip to make progress in this relationship. It can’t stay in this holding pattern much longer. Tiffany has to step away for at least two days (in our time) so they can reach some sort of epiphany.
They can always resume this thread on Monday, but Evans has to do something climactic on Saturday.
People don’t seem to realize——-if Tiff had given Bets her money back as soon as Bets arrived, then Bets would have just turned around and left. The End.
Then there would be no more to this arc for people to rant and rave about. ;D :D
It’s interesting how suddenly people are seeing Bets the way I’ve always seen her… Manipulative, fame seeking and cold hearted. I wonder how many other relationships she left in the dust the same way?

Tiff continues to show that she has absolutely no clue or understanding of the kind of person Bets is and what she would respond to. That said, the fact that Bets is actually sitting down at the table is something I didn’t expect. I thought she would walk out which she still could do.

I don’t like Bets; however, she has a point and is being totally ignored.She paid for “Pirates” she didn’t get pirates. That’s an issue. It can be upsetting to not get what you paid for. No body has reached out to her to say sorry or make any suggestions on how to move forward. This is a totally ignored issue. Oh and Gun texting her doesn’t count. He isn’t trying to deal with the pirate stuff. Gun? He has avoided the situation. Yes he did. His entire plan was to ignore the situation. In a very poorly timed move, during an emotional (anger) fueled situation he added his deceleration of love. He changed the topic. He took Bets pirate problem and added to it. He declared love to an upset and angry girl. He ignored the pirates problem, just left it hanging, and switched topics to make it about him. Gun could see that Bets was upset. What was his answer? Ignore her anger and switch topics. Bets is left to consider: How will Gun deal with any “crisis” situation moving forward? We he support me? Will he simply ignore the situation? Will he make the situation about him? (yes, this is what he did by announcing his love). Would you want to declare love for a person that doesn’t support your needs? Even if she really cares for Gun it’s a big decision. When she needed Gun to support her emotionally he crumbled. And now? He jumps up (during a time when the pirate problem is being discussed) and says (basically).. Ignore that schiz and focus on me!!!

I’m with Bets on this deal. I would be giving Tiffany the “if looks could kill” also. Tiffany has finally proven to Bets for once and all that she is a shallow, lying, conniving little witch who can’t be trusted. I would be glad to see Bets kick Tiffany to the curb. Right after that she can kick her groveling, spineless ex boyfriend to the same curb right next to his annoying “other girl”. In fact, I would tell Tiffany she can just have Gunther and that we will be seeing each other in small claims court.

Gunther really blew his chance with Bets. If he really cared about her feelings, he would have insisted Tiffany give her the apology and $300 first and then instructed Tiffany to leave. But as usual he is overlooking what Bets is really mad about and just thinking about himself. If he had resolved the money/refund issue they could have probably had a good conversation….somewhere else and away from stupid Tiffany. Oh but wait he said Bets doesn’t want the money. If Bets had gotten the refund and apology when she arrived I guarantee you she would have been far more receptive to sitting down and listening to whatever Gunther had to say. But no. Both Gunther and Tiffany are ignoring Bets’ reason for being mad. And Tiffany, that lying witch, could fix this but she won’t because she is a jerk who won’t apologize when she is wrong or give back money she shouldn’t have taken. The way they are making it okay to cheat someone in this story is really making me sick.

I have seen very little in the Gun and Bets relationship to date that should cause this level of grovelling on the part of Gunther. Unless, of course, something’s going on in the off strip segments in GnK’s collective mind(s) that keeps Gunther in this relationship.
Bets, on the one hand, continues to be displayed as “dominant, aggressive, bossy,” as described by GnK in the past. Gunther on the other hand has been described in the past, again by GnK, as being “100% pure gentleman. Respectful, decent, kind, honorable” and “the kindest, funniest, sweetest guy.”
Since the misjudgement by Greg’s attempt to purge Gunther from the strip, Gunther has been portrayed as focused on his studies except for being embarrassingly subservient to Bets wants and “needs.” I can’t believe GnK is hinting at some kind of kind of social dominant/submissive relationship. Even the heartfelt mutual love, affection and commitment displayed in the Rosa relationship had limits! Why is this relationship so all-consuming?
I just don’t see it. Is this supposed to be the “dark night of the soul” for Gunther? The debilitating period leading to a new Gunther and a new, healthier relationship environment? Similar to the crushing that Tiffany went through with Ann Eiffel? That, BTW, lead to a new relationship with her father.

I fully expect her to say, “There is no US!” I don’t know what Gunther can say to get her to open up and discuss her feelings about the two of them. She wants to be in control all. the. time. Ok. I am still not a fan of much here this whole week.
But, at least I can understand a bit today of why Bets is now further annoyed. The Gunther behind a curtain thing was not a great idea to begin with….. but, with Bets already grouchy even before Gunther squeaked out that he was behind the curtain….. there was no way in hell that this would be looked upon in any way other than how Bets responded.
However…. I still think Bets was not behaving kindly or well earlier in the week. I still think Gunther was rather foolish in the way he has tried to find a way to reconcile with Bets this week. And, I think that Tiffany’s plan was poor in how she got Bets to arrive here, and in what she presumed the end result would be.
In reality…. the whole “Dinner for Two” and “Weenie World Dump” have completely soured me on the Bets & Gun romance and I now hope they seperate/break up. Even with Gunthers’ timidity and Bets’ excessive emphasis on social media…. I had been thinking they were a good match and could do well together. But, I no longer feel this is so.

I cannot decide what I think Gunther should do until I hear the explaination for why she ghosted him and it had better be good. Greg reversed the roles, usually the female says, “I love you. (Lets get married.)” and the male runs like a scalded cat.
I expect Bets to say something like, “Gunther, I’m sorry I ghosted you But, I could not talk to you until I sorted out my feelings for you. Gunther, I don’t love you, and I don’t see us together for the rest of our lives. BUT, I do have a deep affection for you, you are a great guy and a fun companion. For as long as it lasts, I want to be part of your life and I want you to be part of mine. Knowing that one day (and that day may never come) one of us will walk away. Is that acceptable to you?”

I’m with Bets on this. IF this is about getting Bets talking to Gunther then why is tiff using a chime to interrupt and tell her to shut up in the name of “peace”? That seems like a great way to raise her defenses and make her concerns feel unheard. Given Bet’s issues seem to stem largely from Tiffany (understandably. Tiff can be a pill.), I think Bets would do well to address Tiff directly making it very clear that she (Bets) is breaking up with her (Tiffany), walk, and see if Gunther follows.

And how many times do we have to be told how so many people are ‘not the right one’. Is it really impossible in Greg Evan’s universe for, say Bernice, Ox, Luann, TJ or Tiffany to find someone who loves and respects them for who they are? Come, the Real World is 70% suck but real people make love work all around us. I’d like to see a few more success stories, Mr. Evans.

Finally, a bit perplexed at the hate directed at Bets here. Tiff has her father’s money back. She can issue a refund easily. Bets, as far as we know, is doing what tiff is only studying, without parental guidence, and doing it WAY better than Tiff as she is making a profit and not pissing off her one customer. That $300 refund is not going to mean much to Tiff, but it may mean covering rent or business expenses to Bets. Gunth does not seem to respect that, and that is worth walking away from him.

I remember the prior argument between Gunther & Bets: In front of everyone, Gunther blurted out the entire truth about Tiffany missing class. Bets tried to explain to Gunther that sometimes telling the truth can do more harm than good. Gunther then tried to justify his compulsion to blab – and Bets told Gunther to shut up – a good response in my opinion. However this time around (the pirate dinner party) Bets had a good case, but her response was unnecessarily extreme. I took that as a signal that other things were wrong in the relationship. We’ll see if the relationship can be improved and move forward.

They got two days before the irrelevant Sunday strip to make progress in this relationship. It can’t stay in this holding pattern much longer. Tiffany has to step away for at least two days (in our time) so they can reach some sort of epiphany.
