The syntax of the amendment seems a little clumsy.

Having said that, what would us old codgers do, without unsubstantiated opinions to share with others?

One thing we desperatly need is a better understanding of what the First Amendment does and more importantly, doesn’t do. It prevents the government from stopping thestating or publishing of opinions and facts it does not like. The only place government can step in is if such speech can lead to the commission of violence, crimes, or insurrection.

The First Amendment does not say or do one thing about what a person says or wants to say in the world. If some venue decides to cancel the speech of someone with volatile opinions, that is not an infringment of First Amendment rights because the government is not involved. If someone punches you in the mouth for vile, hateful speech, they are guilty of assault but did not infringe your First Amendment rights. A business that is boycotted for supporting an unpopular postion is not having their First Amendment rights violated. They are simply seeing the consequences of what they say and support. You may say what you want but remember that speech has consequences. You must be ready to take the consequences of what you say because the First Amendment almost certainly does not protect you.

The Murdoch media empire is not a philanthropic, idealistic organization. At its very core is one guiding principle: Make Money!

Old Rupert knows what sells, and he certainly knows how to do it – and he has always done it extremely well.

If for the merest fraction of a second, the Murdoch clan thought that they would gain a dime more in advertising revenue, paying readership, and/or viewership by changing into the Leading Liberal Light of the Western World, they’d do a 180° in a parsec! But they won’t because they know what people want to believe and what makes them tick.

I loath News Corp. and all they stand for, but I have to grudgingly admit that they are very good at what they do.

He also flunked Grammar when he wrote his amendment to the amendment.

    It should read:

The Right to Never allow anyone to refute my opinions with Facts shall not be infringed, no matter how plain and obvious the supporting evidence may be.
