In my car today, the dash read 132F. Funny place to put a temp gauge—right on the dash against the window. Now granted, it was 99F outside and the car was sitting, so perhaps it really was.
Not as hot as Dad’s temper, on his finding egg in his car, or as Mom’s, on her finding that the eggs she’d been saving, to make whatevers, had been used to decorate sidewalks.
In ‘World At War’ they said in he western desert you could fry an egg on the mud guard of a tank, but it was done more for PR jokes than anything serious.
I always get a valuable lesson out of seeing that hot weather stunt for the hundredth time , don’t walk barefoot on cement and seek another weather station.

Ah, yes – the scientific method. Our young hero will learn a lot from this experiment. Sometimes learning is painful.

Hopefully, Calvin the egg won’t run down the defrost vent. There’s nothing like the smell of a rotting egg.

Surprising that Mom didn’t make Calvin EAT that egg on the sidewalk.
That’s what happened on a very funny comic in MAD Magazine.

It takes 40 C / 104 F to cook an egg (or any other animal product), so there have been plenty of days this summer when that’s been possible.

I’ve looked into it. Apparently concrete and asphalt will never absorb enough heat to cook an egg. The hood of a car might.
