I like Calvin’s idea.

Has anyone actually tried that? And if so, how does it taste?

He is a misunderstood genius.

I tried mixing potato chips and dip and the chips got soggy.

Just remember, Suzi, that if you ever have a kid with him, theklid will probably be just like him.

And yet he’s a fussy eater when it comes to his mom’s cooking.

My dad insisted on mixing his food together on his dinner plate. Jello, mashed potatoes, hamburger steak… He said it was all going to mix together in a minute anyway, so why not?

I eventually realized that my dad actually didn’t care at all what he ate (except, no “heat” and not much salt). Whatever you put in front of him, he would (mix it together and) eat it without complaint.

Reading these comments could give a person stomach cramps.

Grossing out girls is a classic boy specialty.;-D

Any other kid would add Hershey’s syrup to the milk instead of jelly.

And if you’re going to add bananas, freeze them and then blend it into a nice smoothie.

All great ideas seem crazy at first.

As my grandmother said, “It all goes into the same stomach.”

My reply was, “But it all has to go over the same tongue.”

Actually, I don’t care if the peas get mixed up with the potatoes anymore. Some combinations actually taste better.

This is one of the times when Calvin seems to gross Susie out without meaning to do so. His reaction in the last panel suggests that he really was trying to be friendly to her.

It may not be a good idea for lunch, but it’s a great idea for teaching a class on the digestive tract in Anatomy or examining stomach contents in Forensics. (Been there, done that – it works.)

BTW, Calvin – the scientific term is not sludge, but chyme.

Yuck. And “excess wear and tear” on the teeth? It’s bread, peanut butter and jelly, Calvin. Not cement. A sandwich is hardly going to hurt your teeth.

There might be a reason for that…

You had to have once been a normal 10 year old boy and raised a few more to understand Calvin. Pity the rest of you.

Calvin is right this time. When my dad decided to extra his teeth as he did not brush them, mom for meals had to place his food in a blender so he could eat, he felt he was starving.

So, a smoothie, more or less.

One wonders why…

I had a “Calvin” at my lunch table in Jr High. She was a hoot.

Anyone who ever had, for any reason had to restrict themselves to semi-solid food, knows even properly pureed food DOES NOT taste good.

So Calvin invented the smoothie!

Calvin predicted the food in WALL-E.

Now you know how the first smoothie was invented.

lol kids at my elementary used to do that! bleck!! it made one kid puke…

That’s totally something I would have done as a six year old. I’m constantly amazed at how Watterson can clearly be so intelligent and sophisticated while also having such a firm grasp on the behaviors and thoughts of children.

Moochelee Obama’s lunches taste better…

The psycology behind this young lad is astounding. BTW… he really is secretly sharing such world wonders of deep thinkers because he is very much in love with said chick.

Since Calvin is only using his bare hands to wad the jelly sandwich and banana into the thermos his hands must have gotten awfully messy, not to mention the thermos and table.

Well, almost anything can be tossed into a blender and rendered unnecessary to chew.

Anyone who has had a tooth pulled knows that!

Taste it and let us know how great it is Calvin.

“Choke it down” is I guess what they call a “tell”.

this is basically the idea behind soylent (not the sci-fi soylent green, the actual soylent drinkable meals you can buy) only problem is without additional fiber added your body will digest it too fast and cause you to crash about an hour or so after consuming it.
