Alice-Ata: We’re all ready for the cheesetaking competition. You know our strategy?
Agnes-Ata: I’ll go for the cheddar selection, while Tash heads for the Gouda. Vi, you go for the Asiago. Then we’ll meet and go for the big wheels. Remember the first rule:.
All: Don’t take more than you can lift!
Tash: Shall I concentrate on the smoked Gouda?
Agnes: Yes. Go for quality, but don’t be too picky.
Vi: Right. I’m off for the Asiago!
Sometime Later
Serfig-Aro: And the winner of this year’s cheesetaking competition is Team Alice! (Was there any doubt?). The prize is a year’s worth of cheese production from Punn State’s own dairy herd.
I love the conversion/translation – it’s what I found when I tried using the same speech to text programs after I lost my hand. It’s easier to type with one, then try to fix some of the speech to text programs. Dragon is not too bad after generation 6 – but I still prefer typing.
I love how hard Beatrix is laughing. I have had little trouble with text to speech myself, although it did recently offer an interesting rendition of the word Kentucky.
Woman continues-‘Anyway, since I can’t use my hand, I am using, Speech To Text! I hope it’s coming through, okay.’ (Book Lady and Beatrix, sees) Ebay, sense I can’t stand, I’m using fleas to text! I’m hoping to moo, today. Book Lady-“I want what she is having!” Meanwhile, Bea has rolled off the desk, laughing!
This is so true! LOL! I have a friend who is almost blind. She uses That “speech to text”. I had to call her and have her son translate the text! Sometimes those texts are hilarious!
As a Rhode Islander, The Woman is placing an inordinate amount of faith in some programmer’s ability to interpret her accent. Good thing she doesn’t want quahogs, she’d break the program.
See, this is why I don’t use speech to text apps myself, and why I generally roll my eyes when I see people who do (particularly my parents) because even today it’s not reliable enough, and I often see people trying repeatedly to get it down correctly that you have to conclude that it’d literally be faster to just text it conventionally.
If you need to send a message quickly but don’t have enough hands free to do it conventionally, then I can concede how speech to text can be useful, but in most all other applications where you absolutely could spare the hands (which seems to be when I see it used the MOST)…it’s not worth the trouble in my opinion.
So, she thinks she’s saying one thing and the phone is doing another thing. I love talk to text, just have to reread what I just said to make corrections. Because……sometimes it makes no sense what it thinks I’m saying….
So, I’m sitting here in my hanging-basket-swing on my adorably decorated (if I do write so myself) front porch with my adorable dog sleeping under me, and a newly fledged female Rufous Hummingbird is hovering within several feet of me giving me a thorough look over. I’m thrilled. I’m thrilled to know I have yet another generation of hummers at my feeders, and thrilled to have one so curious and bold! Sigh….It looks like her mom just shooed her away. I hope mom wasn’t teaching her to stay away from me and was just competing for the feeder.
My best friend insisted I use voice messages (not voice-to-text; you record an audio clip saying what you want to say) after I had my wrist surgery. It worked well.
