Blame it on all of us. We allow ourselves to be entertained rather than informed. The media provides us with what we want, not what we need. It’s far easier to get our attention by playing to our emotions than our intellect. Politicians are also very adept at this. Why are people who play games for a living important? Why are entertainers more important than teachers? Why am supposed to care a whit about the Kardashians? Yet, if anyone tries to inform the average American they just get tuned out.
What amazes The Count is so many of these celebrities (?) in the media The Count has never heard of. As in… Who? And Why should The Count or anyone else give a rat’s patoot?
I’m pretty sure it is. When congressman whoever goes to the no tell hotel, I’m sure he is having some serious talks about the economy and the rising price of necessities. (and nasties)
“The media aim to please” is why Fox News ended up owing Dominion almost $800 million. They only told their audience what the audience wanted to hear. Remember their old slogan, “We report. You decide?” It’s now, “You decide. We report.”
The World Economic Forum met to get every ordinary person to learn to eat bugs and be forced to use public transportation to “save the planet”. In a sense of hypocrisy. these advocates ate steak and lobster and went to and from there in private planes (not exactly leadership by example). Unlike Calvin’s recommendation, the convention was not at Howard Johnson’s.
There are no doubt some economic transactions discussed in cheap hotel rooms, but they are going to be more personal in nature and unlikely to affect the economy as a whole.

Maybe the paparazzi should bug Calvin for celebrity info.
Then, he might become as famous as he thought he’d be in the previous arc!!

Economic discussions ? The halls of congress, me boy Calvin. Dull stuff. Too important and dull for the media.
