Braingasm – LUANN walk away

Tara doesn’t have problems. She causes them.

Tara is constructively homeless, sleeping in her jeep without the top. She can’t live with her cousin, who is violating her parole. Where are the parents? What happened? Luann is trying to help a homeless friend, a “bad” girl who is still struggling to stay in the normal world by going to the community college. Had been a student at Mooney Uni, but got expelled. But still in school. I think the next transition is where does Luann have in mind so that Tara has a place to stay, at least temporarily? Crashing at Luann’s wouldn’t work for clearly stated reasons. I vote Tiffany’s. After all Tiffany has a mini mansion where she is freaking at being all alone. What could possibly go wrong? -:) That is my bet so far, probably way off, but it is such a clear possibility given all the arcs over the last two months or so.

Tara’s behavior continues to cast doubt upon herself.

That said, at least Luann clarified the situation about notifying her parents. Kudos.

It would be interesting if Gunther moved in with Bets somewhere – and Tara rented Gunther’s room. Tara could handle Les.

With Luann’s Braingasm,” we may be creeping out of the family comic. After all, I think Luann is pushing 20. We seem ready for an actual plot involving Luann – an idea whose time has come.

Brain organism? Must be some guy doing his morning jogging around the park. Hey Luann? Consider yourself lucky Tara doesn’t want to crash your pad because of Bernice. Don’t dare correct her that Bernice was not the one who reported but security footage caught her in the act, and yes, Bernice knew because she was the RA. Let her go sleep in her jeep – she is nothing but trouble. I have a funny feeling her felonious cousin is just a cover-up story for something torrid she is involved in that has nothing to do with her cousin.

Even the slang words in this strip are awkward and apparently made up by bots.

Maybe Tara could get a job at The Fuse and crash there until she is in a better financial shape?

This is very likely going to end badly for all those concerned until someone comes in to clear up the chaos Luann is dreaming up! Is she thinking of approaching Tiff with a proposition. I doubt if she is going to take a stab at getting Bern to move back home with Ben and the folks (allegedly no room) and Tara said she wants to lay low and stay out of the Degroot’s hair (except Luann obviously). One other thing. Tara could still be on probation for her escapades at Mooney U if it is for 2 years + as the clock runs slower in the Luann Universe (2017 might be 3 or 4 semesters ago), perhaps she is avoiding the probation officer for not complying with the terms and the cousin is a red herring but if it is her cousin who violated parole and they are rooming together she definitely does not have a roof over her head now. The logical thing I suggested in a thread above is to steer Tara towards Craigslist or the nearest Salvation Army lodge but this will not happen. I wonder who is going to be drawn into Luann’s scheme?

I’m with Tara here. She doesn’t know Luann’s parents and it seems that she generally doesn’t trust adults, while Bernice is very strict about rules. plus, she surely care a lot about her independence. It’s nice to see that she believes in Luann♡ and Luann looks really worried about her friend’s future ♡♡♡. I wonder what Luann’s braingasming idea is. Pretty sure it will be something that can totally help Tara, because it’s already a fact that Luann has a real skill in helping others find what’s best for them ♡. She’s a true friend ♡.

For a while now there have been two parallel universes in this strip: that dealing with Luann, Bernice, Jack, and a few others; and a second of Gunther, Tiffany, Bets, Les, etc. They seldom if ever intersect any more.

Luann turning to Tiffany as a solution would be like crossing over into a different comic strip. So I don’t see that happening, as logical as it is for a solution.

A little exposition, please?

Well I think Luann should definitely get her thieving friend (who obviously still does not take responsibility for her actions) to live in her parents home or with another relative or friend. Love the way she always gets played by anyone who wants to tell her lies. She has the intellect oops I meant innocence of a three year old.

Tara doesn’t need anyone “up in my business.” Just what is her “business.” That’s so secretive? What is the “big idea” that has caused Luann’s “braingasm”?

As an aside, there sure was a lot of dialogue in today’s strip.

Is this the first time a word ending in -gasm has been used in a Luann comic? She sure was quick to use it… makes one wonder…

Some have suggested that Tara could move in with Tiffany.Luann 1212 says: “… after all Tiffany has a mini mansion where she is freaking at being all alone. What could possibly go wrong?….” A lot… maybe.. While Tiffany does have space in her dad’s mansion, there are some reasons why it might not be a great place for Tara. You take someone off the street “essentially” who is in pure survival mode and put them in the kind of luxury Tiff lives in, there will be temptations and Tara has already shown a tendency toward theft. With so many expensive objects around, Tara might immediately think “Oh.. no one will miss this or that”. She could be the type who might secretly take things and sell them. It is not a nice thing to say about her but people in desperate situations do desperate things. Tara is the sort of free spirit who would gather up what she can get and then disapppear. On the flip side, if she thinks just a little, she would realize that doing so would cost her all the friends that she does have. I’m just saying that that Tiff’s home might be a real adjustment for Tara who is so used to living on the edge and who who actually craves that kind of existance.

Judging from Luanns expression, the most shocking thing Tara said is that she doesn’t need Luann’s Parents!!How could that be!?

That’s correct, Tara— if you don’t want people “up in your business”, you have to be more independent.

Whoa! Hold those horses, Luann!

It’s not for her to commit her parents into supporting yet another “homeless waif” without even speaking to them. Remember, it was Nancy DeGroot who had to go back to work to make up for the labor and monetary shortfall when Pru left. Not fair to place more dependents on her back without a family discussion. Taking in Bernice for FREE was already an incredibly generous gesture. But that doesn’t imply that they’re ready and willing to throw their doors open and convert their home to “The DeGroot Homeless Youths Support Foundation”.

And Tara… well, I’m being a little cautious about her redemption and reform. She’s blaming Bernice because she got expelled from Moony U. I’m being fair… B is no Inspecter Javert, doggedly pursuing poor Jean Valjean. It was Tara’s own actions (stealing the TV, breaking into the candy machine) that got her booted. So, Tara can either own it, learn from it and do better, or she can blame Bernice, and others for getting caught and rightfully punished.

I wonder if Luann’s braingasm involves Tiffany and that big empty house she’s living in?

That’s probably as close as Luann will ever come.

Interesting turn of events…. Tara is back…. for better…. or more likely for worse .

Tara’s attitude about both the DeGroot parents and Bernice are rather on the obnoxious side for a young lady who seems to be in a serious predicament if we are to believe her about her cousin:

1. Her “I don’t need…. [Bernice/DeGroot parents]… up in my business.” is typical Tara. I tend to think she is continuing to grow more “shady” as we get to know her.

2. At least as far as I recall, Bernice did not have anything to do with Tara’s dismissal from Moony U. I recollect that Tara was seen on some camera system engaging in her illegal activity and I do not believe Bernice had any role in this.

3. The DeGroot parents would more likely than not offer Tara some sound advice and a legitimate plan on how to handle her living situation in an adult fashion that would allow Tara to keep perusing actual goals and aspirations. So, it seems that is reason enough for Tara to dismiss the idea of their help….. because I am of the opinion that Tara prefers chaos and seems to prefer placing blame and responsibility for her “lack” of having/reaching goals at the feet of others.

* * *A lot of folks suggest this would be an opportune time for Tiffany to have Tara as a roommate. While it does sound like an avenue that Greg may pursue, I think it only offers Tiffany a whole helluva lot of avenues to have MORE problems, and MORE hassles, and MORE grief in her life. If Tiffany were smart and wise and this idea of Tara rooming with her comes to pass…. she should summarily reject the idea.

I hope Tiffany/Tara “roomies” does not happen. Logical ideas for it not happening include:

1. Tiffany does not (I think) know Tara.

2. Luann does not interact with Tiffany much lately, and at least it seems Luann was not a part of the “fearful power outage” arc for Tiffany and would likely not be aware of it.

But…..

…. with Luann’s “Braingasm” it looks like the Tiffany/Tara “roomies” pathway may be explored. It will typically and likely be done with “hilarity ensues” as the goal.

Finally, it does seem rather fitting that Tara SOLD her top for her Jeep… whether it was a soft or hard top… it seems an awfully damn dumb thing to do…. even in Southern California. Even “So-Cal” gets rain sometimes. Tara definitely does NOT live a life of thinking through things or looking beyond the immediate moment.

Tiffany’s house?

A couple things come to mind. If she did steal and was caught, it’s her responsibility, no one else’s. How did she afford to go to university? Why is she broke now that she has to sell her Jeep top? What has she been doing for two years? Or however long it is in Luanniverse? If she wants no one in her business, why come to Luann? Seems she is looking for someone to solve her problem, without telling the whole story and still not taking responsibility for herself. Luann is a soft touch and I can see this not turning out well for her. And Tara, yet again blames someone else.

Let Tara park her jeep in Luann’s garage overnight …

A lot of talk here about Tara moving in with Tiff.

Not that Greg would go there (you wouldn’t, would you, Greg?), but it would be something if idiot Tom took a fancy for Tara and she became Tiff’s step mom.

Poor Tara, she is least attractively drawn character in this strip.

Tiffany is the only one who has an extra room at her place. Or the plan could be to hide Tara out at The Fuse and not tell anyone. That could prove interesting.

“Braingasm”? Does this mean that Luann had a thrilling idea for a solution to Tara’s needs?

Why does Luann let Tara blame Bernice for getting expelled? Luann is aware that Tara commuted those felonious acts. It isn’t Bern’s fault even if she did report Tara – which she didn’t. I try to avoid people who blame others for their poor decisions. I suggest Luann do the same.

Probably not the first time – or the last.

Just a few random thoughts. First, maybe I missed something, but I don’t recall that Tiffany has ever been generally afraid of living in the big mansion; she was afraid when she was alone with the power off. Second, I’m always puzzled when people recommend that someone “get a job at The Fuse” just because they need one. The Fuse is a business and has to take care of its own needs, not provide jobs, shelter, or anything else to random people. Third and last, I may be old-fashioned, but I consider Tara’s comments about “up in my business” extremely rude. She could decline Luann’s offer with a polite, “No, I’d rather find another solution, thanks.” But Tara is the kind of person (and I’ve known a few) who will pooh-pooh logical, orderly solutions, and then show up in the middle of the night in a crisis, time and time again. Of course, that provides drama, which is good for the storyline!

If Luann were to be like Mickey Rooney, her braingasm would be to put on a show.

Sure glad I an’t paying to see old comics.
