You just set off every protection alarm in his body! You just loaded him with adrenaline! You’ll be lucky if he doesn’t bite everybody in the room (well, not the Girl, of course) just like if someone touched his tail! And now it will be weeks before he trusts you not to lose her again!
If the Man hadn’t immediately reassured him by finding her, who knows what he might have done in his panicked search for her?

The slaves are now comatose. This morning they did a lot of fussing about with things in fancy paper, and then made some very interesting smells. But inquiries got the reply “Which it will be ready when it’s ready.” Eventually, it was. And actually very nice. Though the slaves gorged themselves as well, as though they owned the stuff. And now, of course, they have all passed out. That’s the modern world for you. No discipline. No sense of servile duty.

The last 3 greyhound tracks open in Florida will be shutting down over the next few days including the last one in the Tampa area (Derby Lane) as the Tampa, Sarasota and Fort Myers tracks all have already shut down, leaving only a handful of tracks open in the US as Florida joins Alabama in closing down the last of its tracks in 2020. It is time to end this gambling/racing activity as over the years I know many people who have adopted rescue greyhounds and understand that some of the kennel owners do take care of the dogs but so many others abused these poor creatures and many greyhounds were put down due to injuries on the track or contracting illnesses like kennel cough and really did not get to live a real life being caged most of the time only to be let out to run on the track. I do hope the closing tracks in St Pete, Palm Beach and Jacksonville find homes for these remaining dogs who do not go out to the remaining tracks:

We did a test run last night, and my brother will join Dad and I in opening presents through Zoom. Where we are placing the devices, he’ll have the same viewpoint as if he was here, sitting where he always does on the couch. In lieu of being here in person, glad he’ll be able to join us virtually!
The first time we traveled to meet the Great-Niece, the Woman – I am not making this up – bought two Disney suitcases and packed them full of gifts for her (with the suitcases themselves being two of the gifts). I have two pictures of her from that day: one of her burrowing herself inside gift wrap much like the Girl, and another of her falling asleep in Grandma’s lap when there were still a bunch of gifts to be unveiled.
I don’t often comment here because I’m usually at work and sneak in reading BCN moments before I’m supposed to begin working so I don’t have time to comment. But I do read it everyday and I want to wish a very Merry Christmas to all the Orbsters. You guys are the best. Amazing how you can feel you know people and care about their lives without every actually meeting them. So I hope you all have a great day and wonderful 2021.

Even though it’s a bit (for FL) chilly (currently 51, high 61), I’ll go and visit the cat colony. The lady I refer to as the “primary”, she takes Fridays off (mental health day) and another will be going. Debbie loves the cats too. She’ll be going about 4:30, which is too late for me. I’ll go at 3, that way the kitties can get two dinners today.
Christmas lunch is finished (even the corners are full!), the leftovers are packed away in the fridge or freezer, and even Bella and Akiro had their little (tiny-sized) bits of ham and then some of their proper treats. The house is warm and quiet and the dishes will wait until later.

I woke up to a light covering of snow on the ground. When I went out to fill the bird feeders there were very light, fine, powdery snow flurries swirling in the air. The accumulation was less than an inch so doesn’t qualify as an “official” white Christmas, but it works for me.
Merry Christmas, Orbsters! We had a wonderful day with our family here at home. After they left, the Castle Clowder came out to check out all of the toys they got from Santa. I hope they don’t mind that our 9 month old Granddaughter played with a couple of them while they were hiding. Among all of my gifts from Andy, I got several BCN items that I’ll enjoy for years to come. I can’t wait to use my new Baba Mouse mug for coffee in the morning. God bless us, everyone!

I woke up to a light covering of snow on the ground. When I went out to fill the bird feeders there were very light, fine, powdery snow flurries swirling in the air. The accumulation was less than an inch so doesn’t qualify as an “official” white Christmas, but it works for me.
Slowly, softly, falling down
With the grace of thistledown
Whirling, twirling as they fall,
Drifting gently one and all
Turning the whole world sparkly white
Snowflakes falling through the night.

Merry Christmas, Orbsters! We had a wonderful day with our family here at home. After they left, the Castle Clowder came out to check out all of the toys they got from Santa. I hope they don’t mind that our 9 month old Granddaughter played with a couple of them while they were hiding. Among all of my gifts from Andy, I got several BCN items that I’ll enjoy for years to come. I can’t wait to use my new Baba Mouse mug for coffee in the morning. God bless us, everyone!
