   My favorite of all those commercials was the one with the family who left cheese out for Santa and they come down in the morning to find just about everything under the sun under their tree.

   An apartment I lived in years ago had some space, and if I remember correctly even some shelves, where the stairs went up to the attic. I kept my vacuum cleaner in there and the bag of cat food. One time I went to pour food into their bowls and a mouse fell out of the bag. Scared the living daylights out of me. I’m not actually afraid of mice, but when they unexpectedly fall out of a bag of cat food, I get a bit startled. I think I’d rather have had the ants. It was an upstairs apartment too. The occasional mouse that got in must have climbed up water pipes or inside the walls.

   It wasn’t so much a word, but the other day I saw a picture of a still frame from a movie. The movie was from 1957. I recognized one of the actors pictured but just couldn’t come up with his name. This was on a different website, so I asked the question in the comments. Someone answered me, but as is usual, about 2 seconds after I hit “post”, the name came to me. I will say that I, too, occasionally can’t come up with the right word.

   They are trying to make sure the patient isn’t a victim of domestic violence or elder abuse. Even though I do feel safe at home, I appreciate that they ask the question. Hopefully, it sometimes results in someone getting the help they need to get out of a bad situation.

   I had a friend who would have curled up in the fetal position watching someone cook like that. He would write down the exact measurements he used. If it wasn’t quite right, the next time he made it, he’d write down what changes he made. Once he got it right, he’d never deviate from the recipe. I’m more like the woman in the comic. Not always, to a certain extent, I’ll measure, but sometimes I think something might go good in this dish, so even if the recipe doesn’t call for it, I’ll throw some in. Of course, I’ve been cooking for so long that I can make most of my dishes without a recipe.

   Yes, this is similar to what happened to my great-grandfather. One of his children fell into a river and he dove in to get him and hit his head on a rock and they both drowned. By the time my grandmother ran back to the house and came back with help, it was too late.

   Did you do something to your avatar or does GoComics just not like you? For some time now all I see of your avatar is “Avt freyjaw”. Everybody else’s avatar shows up just fine. Even the people who don’t have a created avatar have a silhouette with a question mark over it.

   Well, since I’m at work, I’m guessing the world didn’t end. And I haven’t seen anything about anybody being raptured, or any major earthquakes along the New Madrid fault, or any demonic infestations, so I guess everything goes on as normal. I would like to know if any of the fools who were out there insisting that you didn’t really need to wear special glasses actually did look at it with the naked eye and if they’re now half blind. Seriously, some of them were insisting that the warning to wear special glasses was just “they” trying to keep you from seeing the earth is flat. For some reason, looking at the eclipse without glasses was supposed to let you see the true shape of the earth.

    In real life, The Woman and The Man have sadly parted ways. There’s been no mention of it in the comic, The Man has just not been seen since last spring. I had been wondering if any explanation for his absence was going to be given, but apparently not. I guess you’re just not supposed to notice that he’s no longer there.
