Let me guess: inspired by real life?

    Haven’t had this mistake in my house, but our dish soap and dish washer soap containers are pretty distinct from each-other. XD;

This happened once at our house, when I was a kid. Except it was that someone put dish soap in the clothes washer (no, it wasn’t me).

We’ve never actually used the dishwasher in the roughly 40 years since it was installed. Our water is so hard that it would destroy a dishwasher in just a few years. (We have replaced it once during that time, because even just using it as a drying rack for the dishes we hand-wash, our water eventually ruined it).

This reminds me of the time Andrea “Boom Boom” Mitchell got stuck in the middle of the balloon drop at a long past RNC convention. (Not trying to promote one party over the other—just imagining Elvis in her situation.)

My daughter, who was four or five at the time, did this and proudly announce that she had loaded and started The dishwasher. She didn’t know high soap to use, and chose wrong. The result was very similar.

The kids seem perfectly happy to live on the counter for now. I’m glad Goldie got Puck to safety, but where are Lupin and Elvis? I’m assuming Lupin is having an adventure under the bubbles (maybe involving Elvis’s tail) and that Elvis is trying to maintain his dignity as he continues to report on the bubble flood.

When I was a young teenager and my mum was at work she asked me to put the washing machine on. I accidentally put used cooking oil in there as she used to keep it in an old plastic bottle by the back door, not too far from the machine. I couldn’t find the stuff I was supposed to use so thought this was it. Luckily the clothes came out fine, a little softer if anything!

LOL, this reminds me of a prank we played in the military. We were on our 5s (level 5 medical training) and we had a friendly rivalry with the medical 3s course. When they were out doing their field training, we snuck into their barracks and poured a whole bottle of dish soap into the bottom of the laundry machines, knowing the first thing they’d do is toss their kit in the laundry, and jump in the showers.

(They did get us back by using bailing twine to tie all our doors together and create a cats cradle up the stairways of our barracks.

When I was broker than broke when the kids were growing up (as in they ate and I did not some nights) I had no choice but to use the liquid and using the machine used less water. A teaspoon of liquid mixed with 1/4 cup of baking soda worked. The baking soda kept the bubbles down.

Back in the late 1980’s I moved to Winston-Salem and lived with a couple of friends until I was able to afford my own place. After working Night Audit at my first Hampton Inn I came home one morning and opened the apartment door. One of them had put dish soap in the dishwasher and the kitchen, living room, and hallway were solid suds from floor to ceiling. My bedroom was a straight shot from the front door to the end of the hallway. I just closed my eyes and walked straight through the suds to go to bed.

This is rather sensitive for me, recently a new fire has sprung up in Colorado, just north of boulder, where I live, You can see the plumes of smoke from the north area of boulder, a lot of people have been evacuated and the fire grew to massive size in just one day. I would really appreciate some hugs, boops, and purrs for me and for all the people who have been evacuated and whose houses might have been burned.

    Today is:

Sparse when it comes to holidays.

Moby Dick Day — The day this massive tome first hit the bookstores as The Whale in London. This whale of a tale is not true, I swear by Melville’s tattoo. Ishmael was never there, he and Melville never spoke. This broadside has sunk more students than all the whales together have sunk whalers. At least the whale wins in the end.

    What day is today? Alaska…

Alaska Day — To this day, Russia regrets Seward’s Swindle, which may have looked a Folly to his myopic political enemies, but wasn’t. They just had a half-baked notion …

National Chocolate Cupcake Day — How are cupcakes related to pound cakes, other than calorically? Originally, there were two types of cup cakes. One was a miniature cake baked in a cup. The other was a cake in which all ingredients were measured in cups, and the total of the ingredients came out to about a pound. The latter eventually came to be called a pound cake. Nothing to do with the pounds it puts on you, really …

I think Elvis is a real cupcake, chocolate or otherwise.

My sister and I did this once. My parents told us the dishwasher better be running and almost done by the time they got home. Unfortunately, we only had liquid dish soap at the time. I called my mom to tell her this after we had already put the soap in the dishwasher and started it up. The kitchen floor was never cleaner, that is for sure.

One of my friends did this trying to help his mom out after she had a hysterectomy. The kitchen floor was sparkling after he and his dad finished cleaning up the mess. No excuse for being a child though, he was 24! When it came time to do the laundry, his mom had him and his dad load the washer, but she added the soap! The thing that gets to him though is he would have been fine making the mistake, but he could have strangled his mom for sharing the mishap with me. :D
