First, fantastic work, Pequod77. Thanks for that!Second, WOW! The tall one has to be the Governor. And the one on the left is his wife I bet? Plus two new daughters I’m thinking? This is wonderful and encouraging stuff for fans like me. Just as we thought the Space Era might be headed for an extended hiatus—BAM!! Hoping it won’t be long before we see these folks again, out of the shadows.

Could they have been the ones to sabotage the Space Coupe and have sent it into deep space. Perhaps they monitored the trip that Diet, Dick and Honeymoon took earlier this year. Perhaps the “ruined Moon City” was a mirage or false facade to discourage further visit by Diet and others.

I agree with cpalmeresq "Mikeyj and Timmy are rolling over in Mysta’s grave. " has to be the best comment today. Once they roll over, we’re on to a new story, though.

I don’t think this group is living on Earth – they’ve just come for a visit to the cemetery, but they are all alive (as we would assume) and they obviously have the means to travel still, even if all of Diet’s space travel vehicles are now destroyed (which they must be, as soon as the Sparkle Plenty crashes).

I do not know what to say….At first, we thought we were getting Moon Maid back without the moon people..Now it looks like we got the moon people without the Moon Maid!.Or did we?.We still have the Sparkle Plenty, complete with the three stooges, on a collision course for Jupiter..One question – who, how, and when did the stone get replaced?.But something tells me, from here on out, starting tomorrow, we’ll be reading Li’l Abner!

Those who wish for no more space stuff and a return to the so-called hard detective work, be careful what you wish for; you may just get it!.It’s doggone near impossible to find past threads in the Go Comics comments trails. But I seem to remember at least one person who posited the thought that even Dick Locher found just cops and robbers on the boring side….I know I did..It was the space fantasy stuff that got me hooked on Dick Tracy oh so long ago..And it was the space fantasy stuff that brought be back for this last year..I can’t say that I will find the upcoming Li’l Abner story as interesting as this was. And don’t get me started on Sweatbox!.(Though I did like the cutaway to the reformed Mole. There was an alternate take, not published in Go Comics. In it, Toad was deleted from the Sunday panels, and in her place, a just-as-menacing-as-old Mole grabbing the Sweatbox – great stuff – wish Go Comics had published that one!).(That is a thread I’d like to explore – reformed Tracy villains – and perhaps we just got another one in Franken-Mindy).In the meantime, I really regret that Mike and Joe didn’t “go all the way” and bring the original Mysta back, and for good..But I’m thankful for what they did. It was almost as good.

Unless the visitors turn out to be revealed as other people who have undergone the “Chimera Treatment” by Drs. Ghote and Sail. After all, it would stand to reason that Mindy/Glenna wasn’t the only Guinea pig subjected to such a delicate experiment.

But as the rest of you guys said, it’s a great, mysterious denouement to an epic story. The mystery of these visitors is for another time and a different story arc.

This is a very important day in Dick Tracy. It is a thrill to see Mysta’s family, and on Earth at that. We don’t know when Mysta will be reunited with her Lunarian family, but it now seems inevitable. Will contact with her parents, given their telepathy and powers, make further changes possible? An acceleration of transformations wrought by the superimposed DNA? This is a reunion I would very much like to see. That this stunning close to chapter one of “Mysta Reborn” is so satisfying, while leaving (the vast majority of) readers chomping at the bit to know what’s next, speaks to the immense talents of Team Tracy. While my take on events may be infused with a dash of wishful thinking, I don’t believe it is a coincidence that Mysta’s family felt compelled to visit Wildwood in the aftermath of Mindy being sacrificed to become a host for Mysta’s DNA and attributes. Ghote will likely die not knowing the full extent of his breakthrough. While anticipation for the next chapter of Mysta Chimera’s story is fierce, I am also looking forward to seeing what happens with Venus, Méliès and Kadaver as we creep into Halloween season. Thanks to Rene Tray, Gweedo Murray, Detective Willy007, Neil Wick, Night-Gaunt49 and marvee for the kind words. Much appreciated

I’d have to agree with retropop and others. This is actually a nice wrap-up. We know that these folks are around, so just bring them in sometime in the decades ahead. I very much doubt that the intent is to extend the moon story right now; it just leaves it open for the future.

Hey, whatever happend to Flintheart’s lifelong friends (or whatever he called them) getting knocked off? Remember that?

I doubt it. The Moon People swore off all contact with Earthlings, and they don’t strike me as the type who would violate such a vow.________________________

The Moon Governor (he has never had a name, perhaps Mike will give him one) swore off all contact with Earth. That does not mean that he could not rescind that order at any time. He is a dictator and his word is law.

I don’t think we’ll see any more about this for a while. I believe this appearance by the Moon people will be like the first Mysta sightings which were sprinkled throughout several other stories until the Mysta story took the forefront. We will eventually see where this goes but not for some time.

How will the Lunarians or whomever react if they ever meet Mysta Chaemera? She’s the product of stolen material, and unnatural. Would they accept her as a version of the original—and maybe offer to bring her with them (with Stellaluna and Retik. Now that would be a happy ending.) or…what?

I LOVE it! The Governor and his wife were always favorites of mine. A lot of readers seem to think that this is the end of the story and they won’t be making another appearance, at least for now. I for one would LOVE to see them in a full story, or as recurring characters as in the past. Since it turned out that Moon Maid is really dead, I doubt this will happen, but it would be nice for Honeymoon to FINALLY see her Grandparents after all these years. GREAT writing Mike Curtis, and GREAT art work today Joe Staton!

Junior may have had the stone repaired. He knew about it, didn’t he? (I’ve forgotten now.) It’s one of those small details that the reader should fill in, because it would slow down the pacing too much if all of these little things had to be explained.

It actually occurred to me that Mysta’s moon family could have replaced/repaired the stone as part of giving their respects, but it appears that they are merely laying flowers there, so I think the repairs were done some time ago.

JPuzzleWhiz and others: Yes, I am the one who called her Franken-Mindy. I have been doing so ever since Willy007’s “reveal” which, in many ways, was much bigger than Dietrich’s..But I’d also like to point out that I use the term, Franken-Mindy, with a good bit of love and respect. I happen to be one of a few who wasn’t entirely happy with her keeping the name Mysta, especially after even she admitted that she wasn’t the original Moon Maid..Be that as it may..I reiterate what I said this morning, originally, we thought we were getting back the Moon Maid without the Moon Era; looks like it’s the other way around: We got a new Moon Era without the original Moon Maid..Other stuff: Again, it is practically impossible to find previous comment threads in Go Comics. Nevertheless, I do recall a previous comment, possible spoiler, from Mike indicating that they are not done messing with Junior and his women..With that in mind, and recognizing that the space coupe is named Sparkle Plenty, I also reiterate something I have been saying the last couple of days, which is that if something bad happens to the space coupe, Sparkle herself may be in danger!.This is due to the heavy use of symbolism in this current incarnation of Dick Tracy..In the mean time, expecting Li’l Abner to begin tomorrow, I will probably be taking a vacation of sorts from Dick Tracy..I just don’t have the same emotional investment in him as I did the Moon Maid..Nothing bad against Mike and Joe or the strip..Just a fact. I’m not as crazy about grotesque villains..Cheers to all, and quoting Jerry Garcia:.“What a long strange trip it’s been!”

That doesn’t quite let Flintheart/Curtis off the hook. No he didn’t actually say that someone would die, but he did say “Alas! Some of my dearest friends will…I cannot continue.” Alas is an expression of grief, indicating at the very least, some of Flintheart’s “dearest friends” were going to suffer in a bad way during this story. The only character who really suffered after that curtain speech was Mysta, herself. Moon Maid was never among Flintheart’s “dearest friends” unless you believe they became that way off-panel somewhere. And if Mysta’s not Moon Maid, then she isn’t among Flintheart’s “dearest friends” by any stretch of the imagination. And even if she was, there’s still no “some” among Flintheart’s friends who really seemed to have suffered after the curtain speech. That curtain speech raised expectations that were not met at all.^Still, today’s strip is a very good strip. It’s almost good enough to make up for the disappointing, lackluster anticlimax of the past week. Almost.

Replying to your comment above, I made the point once before that Vitamin has always been a ham actor of the first order – he is always overstating, over emoting, etc. Look back at some of his early appearances in the Tracy strip. The slightest little thing would set him off, and he would be running to fortify himself with a handful of vitamins (hence, his name)

Speaking of Moon…how friggin’ BRILLIANT was it that Mike & Co had today’s strip when it was actually a FULL MOON! Ya gotta love that attention to detail, huh? Q: What exactly was the “LUNARIAN EVENT” that Mieles referred to? Q: Who was behind the hidden camera in the Moon Face with Bullet Stuck In The Eye Painting that was in Mieles’ room when he had that meeting? The authors of the strip had an arrow pointing to the hidden camera but yet we were never privvy to whom was spying.

Wildwood Cemetery in moonlight, after visiting hours

Look to see a mystery, mourners with unique powers.

They come to pay heartfelt respects, a daughter to violence lost

Their pain still keen, scars unseen, a bombing’s endless cost.

Since the day she was taken away they’ve avoided human beings

Deep heartache knows no relief, nor respite from severe scenes.

Her mother first felt it in her blood, slight suspicion without name

Dim glow where once was darkness, disturbance she could not tame.

She felt her daughter’s presence, yet that could not be so

The sensation was persistent and daily it did grow.

The Governor he felt it too, initially in denial

Telepathy would not let it be, his heart and mind on trial.

A family excursion soon was planned, down to Wildwood

At her grave in moonlight bathed they bowed their heads and stood.

Perplexed that intuition said Mysta was not now dead

A perception profound, a song without sound, thoughts that could not be said.
