when my girls first got here, they went right behind my couch. luckily, I still had the pink, fuzzy kitty bed that was Nadia’s back there. they found it, smelled a momma kitty and quickly calmed down and went to sleep. they were home.
Interesting behaviour. Bring the new kitten from the RSPCA, and she starts exploring the house. Move the full grown cat to another house, and she hides behind the washing machine.
(This comment is a general observation. Any similarity to any particular cat in command of any particular person is purely coincidental.).
I love how cats can just go boneless and flatten themselves out to fit under furniture with very small openings. I thought nothing could be more adorable than Puck’s tiny hiss, but Sophie’s minuscule hiss is even better!
There! You see? The robber mice have just been keeping a low profile, but even they can’t resist MOVING DAY!
Besides, it’s almost inevitable that something good will be left unguarded long enough for . . . well, for it to go unaccountably missing.
(Not that a particularly strange disappearance such as that would be at all likely to have anything to do with the mice. I probably shouldn’t even have mentioned it in the same comment.)
Love the big smiles on the people, Lupin, Goldie, Tommy and Natasha! I do hope Sophie smiles again soon. (Even if we’re unable to see it as she acclimates to her new home.)
… you know I thought my shiping of Sophie and Elvis was on shaky ground.. but then I see they have the same exact reaction to a new place and I feel validated. The minsicule hiss is also adorable. The bold new purple future is here. I also wonder if now it’s Tommy’s yard he’ll still show up outside the window, you know for old times sake?
They just issued a winter storm warning for 4-8 inches of heavy snow starting late tonight and lasting through noon tomorrow. This will be on top of the 5 inches that fell on Sunday. The prediction for Sunday had been for an inch or less with temps warm enough that it wouldn’t stick to the roads and would quickly melt. I hope they got it wrong this time and we’ll end up getting the less than an inch we were supposed to get on Sunday.
Tuesday is my usual grocery shopping day. The stores will be crowded. Fortunately, I don’t need bread, milk, eggs or toilet paper!
Goldie has such pizzazz, makes me think of a game show host announcing a prize. It’s good there was something for her to hide under, all the excitement will definitely not be to Sophie’s taste.
Better check to see if any of Elvis’ mail is still under there, Sophie! Although at this point it’s probably so far its relevant date that you could make origami with it instead.

As they were moving down the street
Down the street, down the street
A pretty li’l cat still had cold feet
And we hope she’ll stop her hissin’ real soon
Sophie sweet girl won’t you come out tonight
Come out tonight, come out tonight
Sophie sweet girl won’t you come out tonight
And paint by the light of the moon
They packed her art things with nylon stockings
But she’s still not a-talkin’ ‘bout a move so shockin’
When she’s ready, opportunity is a-knockin’
And she can paint by the light of the moon

Keep movin’, movin’, movin’
Though the movers are cruisin’
Keep them kitties rollin’, Rawhide
Through rain and wind and weather
The move is for the better,
A-wishing Goldie was by my side
All the things I’m missin’
Good vittles, love and kissin’
Are waiting at the end this drive,
Move ’em in, head ’em up, head ’em up, move ’em in
Move ’em in, head ’em up, Rawhide
Cut ’em out, stack ‘em here, move ’em in, cut ’em out
Cut ’em out, move on in, Rawhide
Keep movin’, movin’, movin’
Though they’re disapproving
Keep them kitties movin’, Rawhide
Don’t try to understand them
They’ll be happy when we move ‘em
Soon they’ll be living high and wide
My heart’s calculating
Goldie will be waiting
Be waiting at the end of my drive
Move ’em on, head ’em up, head ’em up, move ’em on
Move ’em on, head ’em up, Rawhid
Cut ’em out, stack ‘em here, move ’em in, cut ’em out
Cut ’em out, move on in, Rawhide
