Dad’s really going to enjoy dragging you off to camping this summer.

Laugh now, Calvin. The same will happen to you as well.

So that’s why Calvin continues to stay in 1st grade for 10 straight years.

Looks like the Father’s Day spirit is short lived.

Calvin if you were my kid you would be grounded for a week for that!

No responsibilities…wish I’d had a childhood like that.

In the days before home office.

I don’t remember that in my childhood. — I used to be bored in summer.

I gotta feeling that Dad will see that Calvin NEVER grows up to assume adult responsibilities!!

Too bad YOU have a few more hours left on Earth.

Dad may have a long memory, and will call Calvin on his dead end job when Dad is in retirement.

Dad spends the rest of the day planning ways to “build character” for Calvin!

But his grandparents enjoy knowing that his parents are suffering what they suffered.

LOL. Yeah. Remember the time you walked in on Dad and Aunt Susan wrestling without their clothes on? :)

Has anyone figured out what Dad’s job is? Attorney, maybe?

Careful Cal, you may have just triggered a canoe camping trip to the island.

If I was Dad, I think I might just get an Ice Cream cone and save most of it for when I walked in the house and saw Calvin. I would mention how satisfying it is to make money and get what I want.

Nothing compared to being single and retired, you get to do what YOU want and the government/pension company pays for it.

You could say the same about retirement.I think I’ll go to the park and skate 5 miles or so.

Now that I’m retired, I should call my son and see how his job is doing…

Calvin seems to spoil Dad’s day enough without the phone calls.

Guess I was pretty lucky, liking my job and all. Could honestly tell our children that there wasn’t a day that I didn’t feel good about going to work.

This is when you start to think of ways to torture Calvim when the time is right

Go easy, Dad. He’ll be picking your retirement home someday.

Yep, I see Summer Camp in Calvin’s future.

At least I have a big cubicle, next to a wall of glass, with a view of clouds over Pismo Beach … mmm Pismo Beach.

I think my Dad figured this out on his own. So, when I was 13, and again at 14, he got me a summer job on a tobacco farm in North Carolina. Don’t be whining about working at Jack in the Box!

Just you wait until “adulthood” gets home, Cal! :D

I remember calling the Machine Shop where my dad worked to give him a message. Age 12 and after, to pick me up because I was talking the bus down to that town.

Quick update: 2pm, dad has gotten Calvin a job! 7am tomorrow he will be wearing a paper hat busting tables at a nearby Mickey D’s….happy life C!!!

Yeah, with childhood you get less responsibilities, but with adulthood comes way more privileges! Funny enough, I’m reading this strip and typing this comment from my workplace (close to lunchtime here).

A week long camping trip with rain is just the right pay back, suffer Calvin!

Actually, Calvin’s father should be greatly relieved by that phone call—normally, when the kid calls his dad at work, it has something to do with fire or water or both.

Things change when dad says enjoy school.

Calvin’s dad wanted a dog…sometimes you understand why.

Wait until Calvin sees the to-do list he made for him!

Who knows, maybe Calvin will be able to channel his imagination and creativity and avoid the office drudgery.

No mention of the fact that the call was Mom’s idea and she dialed the number for Calvin.

Calvin can always pick the right time and place to annoy his father, I’m so glad he’s an only child

Who needs a Boss to spoil the weekday. Calvin is enough.

Scrooge said isn’t there workhouse for Tiny Tim. I say isn’t there a woodshed to take Calvin round back? Don’t backlash on corporal punishment; it’s just a comic. Sheesh.

Adulthood is for grounding your ungrateful child.
