Yeah, since Rosalyn doesn’t bother with reading Calvin any bedtime stories, Calvin reads the story to Hobbes. Seems plausible… along with Calvin being “mild-mannered”.
Heh, I’m betting the restaurant’s music system was playing “Low Rider” by War, as after the final verse it sounds like a siren for a bit, until it becomes a sax solo.
Look at how the first panel shows how Calvin imagines Stupendous Man, indicating he’s just imagining flying out the front door, when in reality he likely just ran out the door pretty fast.
Now we just need Calvin’s nose to have grown pretty long in the last panel!
