He speaks from his notes without shame/ for orations are not his game./ He expresses his urges/ with surges of purges/ thereby keeping his enemies tame.///// He used to be called Dzugashvili/ but decided that sounds rather silly./ He’s a fearsome despot/ when the weather is hot/ but he’s murderous when it gets chilly.///// He’s worked out a Five Year Plan/ with a mission for every man/ if your effort abates/ the GULAG awaits/- so you’d best work as fast as you can./////Just keep working, and don’t think twice/ don’t even slow down to pick lice/ Though there’s lice on the loose/ you’d better produce/ in the “Workers’ Paradise”…

    Stalin wasn’t stallin’

When he told the beast of Berlin

    That they’d never rest contented

Till they had driven him from the land

So he called the yanks and English

    And proceeded to extinguish

    The fuhrer and its vermin

This is how it all began

    .

    Stalin Wasn’t Stallin’

    Song by Robert Wyatt

My tea leaves tell me that my impact on the future will be great! Not only on those I send to Siberia but also on Western imperialist pig culture! Elvis has already copied my hairstyle and I’ve seen that the Queen, Freddie Mercury, will sport my mustache! (That one’s a little fuzzy though…)

Uncle Joe liked to read the daily Kremlin linch … er … lunch menu to his staff…

Wednesday is Bulganin burgers, a Soviet salad with Khrushchev croutons, some Malenkov melon balls, and a Beria brownie.

    Portrait of J.V. Stalin

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Isaak_Brodsky_stalin02.jpg

(best viewed with Google Chrome, which can automatically translate most webpage as necessary) has info and links that point to more info about this painting.

    http://www.all-art.org/DICTIONARY_of_Art/b/Brodsky2.htm

    http://www.artcyclopedia.ru/brodskij_isaak_izrailevich.htm

all have info, or links that point to more info, especially the second, about this artist (again, askart.com can be read in full for free on Fridays, and Chrome can automatically translate most pages), perhaps in addition to what’s pointed to by the title URL. So far, 2 works by him have been used here (3 times, including 1 repeat).

    https://www.gocomics.com/that-is-priceless/2013/02/06?comments=visible

has the prior (the repeat), which while my comment is still there, with the line breaks removed, its 24 hyperlinks remain inactive, ?&@#!#%&!, but the text may be informative.

Again, a larger strip image is shown by (⌘- or Ctrl-) clicking the image in Mr. Melcher’s MASTERPIECE #2690 (April 20, 2021) blog entry, accessible by the Check out the blog! box after the last comment.

P.S. For anyone interested, I added a reply to my yesterday’s comment about 4 hours after posting it.

Fellow Comrades, First we must potato salad. Then we must follow up with a gallon of milk. And next we must get two packs of hot dogs.

Wait a sec. This isn’t my speech, it’s my wife’s shopping list.

One unsung hero from back then: Polina Zhemchuzhina. She was the wife of Vyacheslav Molotov, Stalin’s Foreign Minister, and probably ony real friend (they roomed together for many years (after the revolution, many large apartments were taken from the nobles and subdivided to make housing for the poor. During the Lenin era, many communist party leaders did the same, to show solidarity with the people).
