The perception of Donald Trump as a threat to democracy largely stems from his actions, rhetoric, and policies during his time as President of the United States. Here are some reasons why he was seen as such:
Undermining institutions: Trump frequently attacked and undermined democratic institutions such as the judiciary, the media, and the electoral process. He often dismissed unfavorable court rulings, labeled critical media coverage as “fake news,” and spread baseless claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.Authoritarian tendencies: Critics argue that Trump exhibited authoritarian tendencies by concentrating power within the executive branch, disregarding checks and balances, and showing a willingness to bypass traditional norms and procedures. His calls to jail political opponents and his praise for authoritarian leaders raised concerns about his commitment to democratic principles.Attacks on free press: Trump repeatedly attacked the free press, labeling journalists as “the enemy of the people” and seeking to delegitimize critical reporting. His administration’s efforts to restrict media access and his attacks on journalists’ credibility were seen as threats to the freedom of the press, a cornerstone of democracy.Erosion of norms: Trump’s disregard for political norms and conventions raised concerns about the erosion of democratic norms. His use of executive power to circumvent Congress, his politicization of the Justice Department, and his conflicts of interest between his business and presidential duties fueled worries about the health of American democracy.Division and polarization: Trump’s divisive rhetoric and actions exacerbated political polarization in the United States. His willingness to exploit racial and cultural divisions, his attacks on marginalized communities, and his failure to unequivocally condemn white supremacist groups contributed to a toxic political climate that threatened democratic values.
Right – toddler chair – correct for the ketchup throwing Trump.Left – should be a bicycle for Biden.
Honestly, I’d prefer a younger person, but Biden is not a threat to Democracy, Trump encouraged the Jan 6th insurrection riot. Biden signed Infrastructure Bills and gotten projects up and running while Donald was best at declaring “Infrastructure Weeks”. Biden developed NATO into an even stronger force against Putin’s threats to the free world while the United Nations actually laughed, giggled and snorted at Trump’s bald face lies. I could go on and on but I’m not as organized as @DDWiz.
Where or where can I lay down a prop bet that within one year Butkus will be divorced, filed by wife, and come out of the closet? Have you seen some of the fashion he’s been flaunting?
In my opinion, anyone can be who they want to be, I’m just a little confused by the discrepancy between this toxic MASCULINITY and some of his fashion shots.
I agree, and its as if their news channels and social media feeds did not report that the United Nations laughed and giggled and snorted when Trump came in shoveling BS.
But they probably loop played the video of him pushing the PM of Montenegro aside at a NATO photo opportunity, because…he’s projecting his “toughness”.
Really? So when you pay your local property taxes, and some goes to the county, and some to the hospital, to the port, to the city, to the community college and then some of it goes to the local SCHOOL district you can direct to which CHILD the money should be spent?
Next it will be I drive on THESE roads.
And THESE bridges.
And I want my armed forces to be ready to defend against THESE countries.
Your road example is called a toll road. Love to see your local county install some gates on your primary, secondary and local roads in order to collect fees for actual usage!
What a load, Bok. Aren’t we responsible for holding others accountable? When your “friend” is using your weapons and ammunition to commit genocide (against the Palestinian citizens in Gaza) in order to fight a war against Hamas (a valid fight) then we are responsible for attempting to modify their behavior.
