What is it with wives and pillows? When we got married, we had a twin mattress with two pillows. 40 years later, we have a king with 6-8 pillows depending the season. Oh well….
I remember writing a paragraph in sixth grade and ending a sentence with “!?”. Mr Argus said that wasn’t a proper way to punctuate a sentence. I said, “I see it used in cartoons all the time” (by the way, this would have been back in 1966).
Had to look up the book. I like the plot, the characters (especially their names) and the setting. One book our fifth-graders were required to read was, Holes by Louis Sachar, another controversial read.
I always liked the way Richard Thompson drew Mrs Otterloop, she was always very encouraging to her kids and watched over them. Ernesto? Well, what can you say? A very strange young boy.
I worked in a hardware store for a couple of years. Two of the memorable customers were a couple of guys, already into a six-pack or two or three, that came in one Saturday morning to get gas fittings for a bar-b-que they were building. As I tried to explain the difference between the pipe fittings and gas fittings, they were convinced they could make them all work together. Odd thing is, I never saw these two again. Or, maybe it wasn’t so odd.
