Um… who puts tofu on a peanut butter sandwich? I know, Andy Fox does, but seriously.

That’s why in High School, I used to go to McDonalds, freshman year, and every other year I had a Car, so I would just go home and eat, the food at McDonald’s was edible kind of unlike the Cafeteria food. What’s interesting was Grade School, we had good lunches, middles School it wasn’t bad but High School, dirt would have tasted better.

We weren’t allowed to leave school grounds during the school day. Lunch was cafeteria or bagged. No other options. And McDonald’s is only marginally edible.

My favorite was ravioli. Turns out they were canned in brine but were excellent. Worst was mystery meat pattie and cardboard pizza.

When I was in high school, my grandmother worked in the cafeteria. If the lunch was something she knew I didn’t like, she had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ready for me. :-)

@K.C. I agree about McDonalds. The taste is barely acceptable. The worst part, for me, is that everything there makes me regurgitate rather quickly. Even the fries (which ARE good) make me sick. I have no idea what they use on their products, but it doesn’t sit in my system. The last time I tried to eat there was 5 years ago. I thought one fry would be harmless . . . I was wrong!

I remembered school lunches fondly…fresh and home cooked. The lady who made the biscuits was a next door neighbor. Friday’s homemade veggie soup was my favorite…Then my kids started school….I wouldn’t feed that processed, cardboardy, mess to the pigs. I keep seeing where school lunches are a priority with the current first lady and they keep showing her with a group of inner city kids in gardens. Where does that fresh produce go? Not to any schools around here.

    Kids, pack your own lunches!

Mind you, peanut butter and tofu sounds intriguing…

Same here. Mickey D wasn’t around when I went to HS.

That probably explained why I was 6’ 1" and 145 lbs when I graduated.

Last time I ate at McDonald’s I was driving between two meetings about 15 minutes apart and had about 45 minutes to do it. That was over 10 years ago.

Maybe to you but not to everyone. I, for one, can’t eat tofu or other soy products.

The fries are only good when hot, which doesn’t last long.

Thankfully, our local school makes good warm lunches. I can’t imagine my kids being there all the school day with nothing but some cold sandwiches (that have sit in their bag for hours) to eat.
