Well there’s a start. Maybe Calvin will find something in the sewer pipe.

This is a MUCH older strip than the other ones that have been running recently. You can tell by the cruder artstyle and the use of the traditional Sunday format with the throwaway panels.

It would be horrible to be an Ultrasaurus. You would need to eat constantly to maintain that size and weight.

If you bang on the pipe, people will hear it and think that their toilets are broken.

The reason you can’t find any Calvinosaur remains is because they were all ambushed by the Hobbesaurs while coming home from school…..

Calvinosaurus bones are often misidentified as sewer pipes.

The next time a paleontologist finds a new carnivorous dinosaur species and doesn’t name it the Calvinosaurus, they should be shoved down a sewer pipe

Even though it has been quite a number of years that school closings mattered to me, I still loved to hear the closing reports on the radio.Alas, no more, now it is check the schools web page or email messages from the school.

I think most kids played archeologist in their yard or nearby field. We did…and always found something. Ok, it wasn’t really a fossil or anything, but we pretended it was. An ancient red plastic cup! ;-)

The Calvinosaurus would probably have also collapsed under its own weight, but let’s not be bothered by such trifling things.

This was the start of Bill Watterson’s second sabbatical. Maybe the GoComics staff could use this time to present the Sunday strips they skipped over the past two years so they are eventually synced up with the daily strips again.

in order to find fossils you need to be in the bedrock, the soil layer on top isn’t going to have anything more than a few decades old, maybe centuries, but certainly not fossils from the Mesozoic era. A forest is probably the worst place to try and find fossils there is, he’d have more luck on an exposed cliff face or even the banks of a river.

Just for the record Archaeologists do excavations related to pre or early-historic humans. Dinosaurs are dug up by Paleontologists, though they are also interested in animal remains from the time of human ancestors. No, humans and dinosaurs do Not overlaop in time, by at least 60 million years even if you take our most ancient ancestors, and yes I do know what I’m talking about since I have an academic backgroung in both, seperately.

ooh I did that once on a clay pipe too, with a pick axe, a sheet of hard plastic and a lot of silicon fixed it.
