   Hummingbirds are beautiful and magnificent fliers, but they have ‘relationship issues’. They fight over feeders to the point that I put up two, separated by almost 30 feet, and there were still fights with only two birds present.

   Only the one place as far as I know. As for the other, Texas is a weird place in some ways. In general the folks out in the country especially tend to be very friendly, helpful, and just generally good folks. The strange part is that their politics, especially over the last 3 decades or so, have tanked. I do “credit” the Fox Propaganda Network for a large part of it, along with the general and understandable resistance to change inherent in rural populations, but there is a major disconnect there.

   Lost Maples State Park in the Texas Hill Country. While that area isn’t technically a desert, it is well west of the “Dry Line” and at least semi-desert. The park is an Eco-Island, left over from the last ice age when the area was cooler and wetter.
