If Influencers are their usual clientele, they must serve some really strong booze.

Influencers, AKA idiots without jobs scamming products from companies that then rate as excellent, no matter how rotten the product is!

I’ve noticed that influencers only influence the ones that seem to be gullible. If that’s the case, then it’s nothing new.

A couple of years ago on New Year’s Eve, we wound up in a bar full of college kids. And they were playing Neil Young on the jukebox.

And the college Hardware Store near here plays Hendrix.

So, whenever I hear anyone trash the past as being out of date, I reply, ‘Buckle up, Bud. It’s your turn.’

[For some reason, the idiot censor would not let me include this sentence in the first comment block. Go figure]

There are at least 360 million people in the United States. If we use the standard adopted by educational professionals that the average I.Q. is 100, then that means at least 180 million are “below average”. Fertile ground for those who can be influenced by those with nothing useful to offer.

I’ve often contemplated the irony of bars and liquor stores being required to close on election day so their patrons can elect a candidate that is going to drive them to drink for the next four years.

Remember all those loud, annoying people who used to shout from the TV screens hawking one product or another? Influencers are their unemployed kids and grandkids, making commercials from their bedrooms.

This is one reason why immortality might not be all it’s cracked up to be. You could conceivably age out of being able to survive navigating day to day necessities. Of course I don’t mean influencers or keeping up on cultural zeitgeist, but the advance of technologies and new methods and ways of doing things, and the loss of what has become habitual for you. There might be work arounds, I suppose. If you were rich enough, you could pay other people to navigate for you; but it does raise a host of issues that would seem to make living forever an increasingly difficult challenge. Maybe if you remained perpetually 25, you might have the moxie to do it. I know the older I get, the harder it is to keep up in some areas.

I’m a little curious about that “ye who are over 50” bit. I suspect that a lot of commenters on GoComics are, like me, well into their later years, with time on their hands and chores to avoid. Anyone else wanna fess up to being in the “abandon hope” target audience?

Age discrimination is real. I don’t know who does those medicare supplement commercials. The one with “Martha” is particularly annoying. The makers of the commercial apparently believe that us old folk are crabby, stupid and senile. Another commercial repeats the same message about 6 times in the 30 seconds, as if senior citizens have to be told things over and over like little children so they can understand simple concepts.

I’m not buying it – literally.
