Glad you liked the BW version, Den and thanks for finding something to like about the mistake. The b/w is for papers that don’t run color dailies and somehow got posted online. It was kind of a happy accident and worked in a way I hadn’t thought of. Cool.
Made this one into a couple of birthday cards (one for her and one for him), click the Greeting Cards link above, or here are the direct links:https://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/birthday/forher/generalforher/greeting-card-1728164?aid=136061
The cartoon was done way before the recent invasion, and is about oppressive NDAs. The tyrant boss is displaying a total lack of regard for human life – which is a fact of life for many in our might-is-right, gun-obsessed, divided culture. With the nightmare In Ukraine unfolding and Putin’s nuclear saber-rattling perhaps it is too close to the truth to be amusing.
For others, any humor (even dark humor) may be a welcome relief in these dark days. The mistake some make (IMO) is reading a ‘amusing-because-it’s-true" cartoon and interpreting it as an attempt at “making fun” of someone or something. Most cartoonists look for the humor in the situation and have more respect for their readers (and the characters who inhabit their cartoons) than that. It is good to see the cartoon has sparked some lively discussion.
