A good commercial is a good commercial — it doesn’t matter what they’re selling but how they sell it.

I haven’t seen kids driving cars, but do they expect us to believe that dog’s legs can reach the pedals?

Then there are the commercials where at the end I have no idea of what they’re trying to sell. I’d post a link but I don’t know what product to look up.

We should raise insurance rates on drivers who have never crashed their cars.

They’re driving wrecklessly.

Why aren’t they fast-forwarding? I don’t watch anything that hasn’t been recorded.

Insurance ads aren’t funny

I do like the singer in the Nationwide commercials.

No Americans on today? I would have thought Pharmaceutical commercials would be the worst.

Really despise the “Mayhem” commercials, rather watch the “Jade City” show on the weather channel.

Ads are repeated over and over. The program is not. Rocket science.

You know the commercials better because there are more commercials than programming now. We are paying to see commercials. Makes no sense.

I have no idea about TeeVee commercials. I ditched mine 11 years ago. However I get them on YouTube now and then

For a company who’s marketing strategy is No Mascots, they sure do spend a lot of time designing and creating mascots.

There use to be a Geico commercial that featured Art Carney’s son dressed in a gray suit and tie. When I learned that, then I could see the resemblance to his dad. Haven’t seen those commercials since.

Is this because the shows they’re watching are forgettable? Police procedurals and game shows, and reality TV dramas that are one rung above the old soaps?

I stopped watching TV because of the commercials, I run an ad-blocker in addition to the built-in one in my browser and I’m still getting close to not looking at videos. Ads tell me what NOT to buy.

I’m thinking of starting a 24 hour ad channel for people who want to get off their butts and do things without worrying about missing parts of their shows.

Well, being as they interrupt the show every seven minutes for ten minutes of commercials…

We rarely watch commercial TV and see almost no commercials.

The car commercials are the worst. A car driving down an empty road. They all look alike. It could be the same little beer can car since the 1980s.

They did their jobs well if the commercials are memorable…..

Ahh, … Television, I have heard a little about it, But never watch it.

please stop the medicare advantage ads. Some are just so insulting of our intelligence. And some of those 3rd party car warranty ads. Just stop trying to sound like you are a friend giving me good advice. I don’t know you. Just give me the deets and move on.

One of the best examples of how effective TV ads are was Crest. Before Proctor & Gamble began heavily promoting it, it was just a run of the mill toothpaste but they hit pay dirt when they began plugging it with this:

“Crest has been shown to be an effective decay-preventive dentifrice that can be of significant value when used in a conscientiously applied program of oral hygiene and regular professional care.”

They ran that ad so often that I subconsciously memorized it and can still recite it today.

The irony is, almost every toothpaste meets that not-so-rigorous standard but in the minds of John Q. Public, Crest was the ONLY one that did and, as a result, Crest’s sales skyrocketed and it became the #1 selling toothpaste of all time.

I haaaaaate the Progressive ads. I’ve hated every single one of them.

Always loved going to Herman Hermits Concerts staring Peter Noone. Peter jokes about how his English Voice sounds like that Lizard selling insurance.

I never even remember the commercials…it’s a waste of money on me.

I do something which annoys the heck out of my husband – I don’t generally actually watch what we/I are watching on TV. It is on. I am doing something else – cooking dinner, working, reading and posting online, etc. About the only TV I have actually watched lately is the start of the coronation (everyone getting there) and the show I mentioned on a post on another strip that husband found showing highlights of the coronation (as I could not watch it as I had to go to sleep early enough – 6 am after the preliminaries for it to get up to go a reenactment event) so that at least got to watch parts of it – I had been anticipating watching it since the Queen died – but as my mom would sing to me when I complained – “You can’t always get what you want.” (To which I reply – but it would nice to get something I want on some occasion.)

My mom – 94 yo – and in a nursing home DID get to watch the entire coronation.

STREAM!!!! The only time that I see commercials is when I’m traveling. And normally not then either. We mainly stay in AirBnBs and they most often have streaming services.

I liked the one where the actress who plays Flo was a waitress named Pam. The restaurant was showing a commercial with Flo on their TV.

Thank God for recorders and fast forward remotes.And I make a note to NEVER buy from companies whose ads I find annoying
