Forgive and learn. Don’t forget.

The guy on the right is right because he’s keeping to the right and has the right-of-way. The guy on the left will have to practice what he preaches and ask for forgiveness. (at least in the U.S.)

We remember the wrong stuff and forget the important.

I’m going to vote “Both”. The trick is knowing which applies to which situation.

The angry-looking "never forget " guy is better off here. He will beforgiven for the beating he is about to give Mr. Forgive and Forget.

The trick is to simply be charitable.

Forgive and remember, but hold no grudges

As cdward said elsewhere, change forget to let go. One truly never forgets a slight. But if the person tries to change, and they do not repeat whatever they did , do not continuously bring it up to them. Common sense: Look before you leap but he who hesitates is lost. Absence makes the heart grow fonder but out of sight, out of mind. Birds of a feather flock together but opposites attract. I really don’t know where “Forgive and Forget” came from. Prayers are offered to God to ‘remember it not against us.’ God remembers, but does not hold it against us. We, too, can forgive, but will always remember. So, we, too can learn from the past and never forget it.

Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it. History 101!

I think “live and let live” is just now walking across the street to meet them head on.

Now if the guy on the left was Trump the Terrible Tyrant, then his face would be orange and the sign would read “Forgive, Forget, Send Money to a Billionaire, and Reelect”. In this case, the guy on the right is correct. Vote in the 2022 elections because you learned from the past which should never be forgotten.

I go with the forgive but don’t forget philosophy. Forgetting leads one to make the same mistakes over and over again.

just a tidbit for those who claims to never forget — the mechanism for memory decay is baked into our biology. The rac protein facilitate memory decay. i.e. so in a way, we are made to be able to forget things.

The question really is — how do we tweak the mechanism to serves our purposes?
