Good advice I heard and remember from a while back: Don’t take yourself seriously, but take the Lord seriously. I’ve found that perspective helps in lots of life challenges.

For those who believe in a creator I’d ask a few questions. Why is it that many, if not all, organized religions make more laws than GOD did? Do they think HE forgot some? Do they believe that GOD needs their help? Do they think that Jesus didn’t explain the commandments well enough? Do they know who is supposed to be in judgement?

When a religion, any religion, refuses a sacrament, refuses membership, refuses any act, heinous or not, from their church aren’t they keeping people away from GOD? Is that the purpose of the church? Is the church supposed to be the ‘filter’ or the funnel?

GOD gave man 10 Commandments and the means with which to be forgiven when (HE must have known we would need it) we disobey them. All the rest, all the rules and threats of eternal damnation are man-made in an attempt to build man’s ego and control others. Beware the ‘Modern Day pharisees’

One of the Implicit Commandments that is NEVER written down.

Yes, this cartoon can be construed to be political, but in reality it’s just pointing out the lack of ethics in businesses.

And the 12th is like unto it: If caught, thou shalt not admit error or accept blame.

I got a bang out of the Reader’s Digest version of the classics: The 7 commandments, the 8 apostles, the 5 dwarves, the 81 Dalmatians, the 55 trombones, and of course the answer to life, the universe, and everything: 69 (told ya I got a bang out of it!).

In a closed society where everyone is guilty, the only crime is getting caught. In a world of thieves, the ultimate final sin is stupidity.

In my 6th grade classroom (1970), the 11th commandment was, Thou shalt not divide by zero.

The Pope just lost half of his intestines, despite what I was taught in catechism as a young child… The pope is human and fallible.

It would be nice if the Catholic and Christian churches actually acted the way Jesus taught.

This one really brings to light just what’s so wrong with continually doing things “the old school way.”

I always thought the 11th Commandment was “Thou shalt not be stupid.” The world would be a better place if that had made it on to the tablets.

I don’t get religious about it, but I always thought the Beatitudes were a much better foundation than the Commandments.

George Carlin whittled it down to only 3:

1) Thou shalt always be honest and faithful, especially to the provider of thy nookie.
