Oh yes, I think all of us have experienced a cat doing this to us. Masters of the passive aggressive (and the not so passive, too).

The passive-aggressive kitty back turn! Our kitty does it when she wants to be near us, but doesn’t want to seem needy!

Awwww, Elvis! Now I feel bad for him, as I am meant to do, and he knows that.

I call this the “I’m ignoring you, nyaaaaa” pose. Any second now he’ll check over his shoulder to see if they’ve noticed how much he’s ignoring them.

Millicent, supreme authority over my family many, many years ago, would sometimes sit in the kitchen doorway with her back to us, and sulk so powerfully that she made the room go dark around her.

Typical simmering, festering Angry Fussy Paws behaviour. ;p Elvis, be the Good Boy that you are and dare to enjoy the food out of your own bowl.

Let me tell you about my cat McKayla. I found her under my father’s car in 2000, on a cold, rainy November night. She was a little Tabby Kitten with a huge purr motor. I took her home to our house and on the way, she curled up on my shoulder and purrred. She was my cat ever since.

She loved the rest of the family but she would sit on my lap in the evenings and purr. She did not take any sass from dogs. She stood up to cats much bigger than her, even though she was a very tiny. " And though she be but little, she is fierce" .

She was losing weight since last fall. She had grown very tired all the time. Yesterday, while purring on my hand, McKayla passed away in the vet’s office.

I have a hole in my heart. Her spot on next to me on the chair is empty. I will never forget my cat Mckayla.

I wanted you all to know her.

My mother was a hairdresser and worked at home. The hair dryer was in our spare bedroom which was where our crotchety old cat slept on a hideaway bed. When clients would be under the drier Blackie Cat would assume this position exactly just to make sure they knew how unwelcome they were.

Our Sage used to turn into a rock when mad (15 lbs into 300 lbs.) with a look that that said “eat Rosie crunchies and die!” all while sweetly purring. Rosie crunchies are what is deposited in the “BOX” – one of our dogs favourite treats.

I’m turning my back to you

    Flattening my ears back

    Twitching my tail!

    …….

I’m lying next to the dish

    Snubbing all the Humans

    Showing them my fangs!

    …….I’m ignoring you cat friends

    My anger has no end

    I wanted the green dish

    I didn’t get my wish!

And I trust that you’ll excuse my dust

    And hair balls

19 is a good age for a cat, so obviously you looked after her well.As I always say, take time to mourn. Then, when it feels right, resume your duties to the feline order. https://www.gocomics.com/breaking-cat-news/shelter-cats-a-bcn-special-report?ct=v&cti=2084167
