Yes. The temptation was too great, so I did go to arcamax. Yup! More camping. And I can’t believe how close I came to predicting the return of the camping arc and the cold stew. I drew this on Sunday morning. Art is a bit rough, since I didn’t use a pencil sketch underneath. Call it the Luann Camping Trip Parody. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3P0L_3SIgwY/XSt0sCe4IJI/AAAAAAAABXk/64tencwIPagyyBAqupBoIaQ1j-uL9Zo2QCLcBGAs/s1600/luann%2Bcamp1.jpg

While still being played for cheap laughs (like a Shannon arc), it’s still better than last week’s installment.

Blizzard hits the campers. Whiteout conditions. Luann builds an igloo while dressed like Colonel Sanders. Dez runs out nekkid and makes snow angels. Bernie swallows her phone and switches her report to the inner workings of her own GI tract.

Hey, I see it! Bernice fell asleep in the car with the doors locked and the sun is coming up! Luann notices first and tries to break in with a twig when Bernice doesn’t respond, having slipped into unconsciousness….oooo the last panel is blacked out, I can’t see the punch line.

Ah, checked ArcaMax, per usual, before crashing after a nice, busy Sunday, so I knew the strip was staying on camping. Surprised that af first blank page. GoComics again, sign! But I am staying. poo. Anyway, as I have been saying this is hilarity ensues, and with Luann and Bernice in an arc, particularly together, that will be the case, unless there is a serious downer type issue they are dealing with. Of course this still leaves the possibility that my belief that Jack, Nil, and Tara will still show up open. Lets see.

My husband whittled a makeshift spoon out of a piece of wood when he was camping at Rabbit Blanket Lake in Ontario. He carved the date and “Rabbit Blanket” on it. We still have the spoon!

Hah…. Schrodinger’s Dog beat me to it….. I too was going to suggest using a twig to eat with.

In regards to other aspect of today’s effort:

    1. Canned stew is IMO not particularly pleasant…. and COLD canned stew is even less pleasant. :) I think I would have brought something that is more “semi-palatable” in a canned form….. hot or cold….. perhaps vegetarian chili or sphagetti-o’s, or mac-and-cheese. For me, I think stew (beef, chicken, turkey, or vegetarian) is best left for being home-made…. canned renditions are IMO too similar to dog food.

    2. It seems both Luann and Bernice have continued to be a bit more accepting of the “non-gizmo” side of life. But…. both still have a ways to go. :)

    3. The skyline is continuing to become darker… and to me that suggests it is perhaps getting towards nightfall for the trio. Are they actually going to stay out there at night without a tent? If so, will they make (or even be able to make) a fire? Will they sleep in the car? Will Jack and Nil suddenly show up after all?

Yes Luann, nobody brought eating utensils. Probably because none of you thought to designate someone to bring them, or even made a list of items to bring. Of course maybe you should tone down the incredulous attitude since nothing was stopping YOU from bringing them, so the current predicament is 33% your fault.

This strip could be used to teach a class on the importance of prior preparation for camping trips. Maybe have the car fail to start tomorrow due to a dead battery (since these three nitwits left all the doors open while they communed with nature) just to really hammer the point home.

If they let the car engine warm up for a few minutes, they could have laid the cans of stew on the engine or exhaust manifold. That way, they would have been warm.

With today’s strip, after Luann’s (Panel 3) shout, either:

    1) We hear the ‘Surprise Music’ from Ren and Stimpy’s – ‘Nurse Stimpy’ where Ren gets caught getting bathed by the cat!, … OR …

    2) ‘Forky’ from Toy Story 4 will come with his fork-friends to save the day!! …

… And no, neither will happen! :)

Dez has right attitude, i.e. nothing life threatening has occurred so just go with the flow. By the end of the week maybe she will have taught these two a thing or two about life. A flattened stone or piece of bark could be an eating utensil.
