Being a 6 year-old’s conscience is a thankless job.

This story arc is a rerun within a rerun, if that makes any sense.

Being good builds character.

If Calvin tries being good, his parents will not believe Rosalyn, I remember seeing that in another strip

Good idea, Hobbes. That’ll confuse her no end!

Hobbes has a point here Cal. But that would mean we miss all the fun. Pour some more water in the ear and let the drama unfold, when Rosalyn enters.

Doesn’t Hobbes realize that if Calvin is good, Rosalyn will be suspicious and make his life even more miserable?

With Calvin, wisdom goes in one ear and zips out the other.

Note to self: check with local council before putting heads on stakes in front garden.

The psychological deviousness is delicious. She’ll go cuckoo, for cocopuffs.

Something in the zoning ordinance about not drying towels on balcony railings but cannot find anything about putting a head on a stake. Hum.

It might build character, but no good stories come from it.

Like most of us, Calvin has different interpretations of the word “good”. He likes being “good” when “good” involves protecting the environment and when it involves being kind to animals. He hates being “good” when that means submitting to rules and authority.

Zoning Ordinances build character!

Had a cousin once who was the pure devil. Mean kid who pinched my leg while his father said grace. I pinched him back so hard that my fingers hurt. He still wouldn’t stop.

Forget it, Hobbes. Calvin has such a extensive rap sheet if he tries to be good, Rosalyn will think he’s up to something and punish him anyway!

Great strip today…two punchlines for the cost of one. That zoning ordinance line was priceless!

LOL… Change your appearance, Calvin. Yeah, a disguise! Rosalyn will think it’s your well-behaved brother.

A warning or other notice of hazards is considered a sign. The content of signs are protected by the First Amendment of US Constitution. As long as the sign does not exceed any size or setback requirements, Rosalyn is all good.

Beheading children in her charge is probably not the best way to advertise a babysitting racket.

The word “good” is a four-letter word to Calvin!

Run out of the bath naked. Then charge Rosalyn for violating a minor.

Heh, I wonder how Calvin learned about severed heads on stakes? I really doubt he learned it in school… maybe from one of his comics?

Do you think she’ll remember? I met my own babysitter more than fifty years after the, um, difficulties. She remembered everything. I still say I was in the right.

My three brothers and I had an older couple as babysitters for a while. They taught us to play gin rummy, then won all our allowance money off of us.

There’s a particular reference there that Babylon 5 fans would get…
