I have several LED bulbss that, because the globe is not transparent, are indistinguishable by sight from the old incandescent bulbs. Same shape, same size, same base.

    Hello Everyone  3 months ago

By the way, I highly recommend the comic “DeFlocked”. Actually, GoComics recommended it to me and it is very similar in style to Pearls. Possibly, too similar?…It is funny though. And I can easily imagine Rat, Goat, and sometimes Pig saying the same things. No worries, Just a Recommendation – Cheers!

I’ve had LED bulbs for over 10 years. Just replaced a 60watt equivalent that was on continuously after 7 years in the basement. Was using only 7 watts so it took the place of a night light. Used to have to replace the three-way incandesce every 9 months since the lowest setting would blow out. Those are also 5-7 years old.

They do have LEDs that are closer to the color of natural sun light and the look great.

I held off on LEDs until I had no choice. Turns out they look almost the same and have the wattage equivalent on the box. I have no idea why I was so resistant except that old-man-thing of “Ewwww! Change!”

LOL… so true. The Count has mentioned on here before how the old 3 Way bulb in a lamp burned out and a replacement that fit in the harp could not be found at the local super market or Lowe’s and one had to be ordered from Amazon. The New Improved ones were crazy town expensive, too. The Count actually bought five and is now a light bulb hoarder…

gee … I have LED bulbs all over my house that look exactly like that. Love them. We saw a huge drop in our electricity bills after installing them and they last WAY longer than the incandescents that they replaced.

I haven’t done the math, but incandescent bulbs may be the best environmental option for those months when you are heating your home with fossil fuels. The energy they “waste” goes to heat your house.

I am with Rat on this one. Those guys ruin everything. H. L. Mencken said that a puritan is someone who can’t stand someone else being happy (correct me if I’m wrong on the quote). That would apply here.

Here in Kalifornia, we have nanny hippies trying to control everything. The lightbulb issue took a decade to sort out. Now we have decent LED bulbs, naturally they cost 10X more and those promised 10 years of life is wildly optimistic.
