Managing to mention 9/11 in text, the punchline, on 9/11. Pretty adroit.

In Frank defense he is actually correct.

Yep. Figured it would be portrayed as totally unexpected, uncharacteristic behavior from the perennially underachieving Luann. Apparently so above and beyond her normal behavior that her parents are joking that there must be something wrong with her. Meanwhile, she is one-upped by her alleged BFF again. Oh well.

Weird they would make a 911 joke on 9/11…

Using 911 as the punchline on 9/11? I hope that was an innocent mistake on the Evans’ part. Because if that was intentional that’d be about as tasteful as the end of the movie “Remember Me.”

Sarcasm like that is why more kids don’t voluntarily do chores

Why can’t they simply appreciate what Luann has done instead of making wise cracks?

I’d LOVE to see Frank scrub a toilet now and then.

Luann has a very long history of avoiding house chores. Redemption is rarely seen. Luann is not hopeless, just blooming slowly.

No “angry” Nancy.

Bernice and Luann both did good deeds.

Frank is pleased.

Nancy is pleased.

Luann doesn’t hate Bernice for “showing” her up.

And Frank is about to enjoy a cup of COFFEE.

A pretty good way to end an arc, don’t you think?

The house must have been very dusty for anyone to notice. I don’t think anyone ever has said that they have noticed when I dusted. People notice if there is a lot of dust, but they never notice when the dust is gone.

So FRANK knows Bernice and is not surprised and NANCY was? I have the feeling Nancy was playing the girls, feigning an assumption that Luann did that and not Bernice. It is Nancy who knows Bernice better of the two DeGroots parents and yet Frank was not surprised? Yep. Good acting, Nancy. Now, the 911? Nah. Luann got jealous and competed with Bernice for her mother’s attention. Maybe call an Advice Hotline?

They both are aware of Luann’s work and are happy with it. I adore this!

As a rule or etiquette, I think you should stay away from other people’s paperwork as a matter of privacy.

Luann should drop out of school and join the Navy, then go back to college on the G.I. Bill. She needs to be whipped into shape and going into the service would do it.

except the difference here is , Bernice is doing it as a way of earning her keep and also out of kindness. Luann is doing it expecting something in return. Luann is still an immature selfish flake.

I suspect Greg Evans is still sore that his original plan to have Brad and Toni get married on an earlier anniversary of 9/11 caused such a kerfuffle that he had to back off. So today he references the date, without explicitly mentioning it.

Calling 911 might just get you Brad. how would that help?

All I can think of with Frank’s punchline is the new emergency phone number from “The IT Crowd,” but I think Greg would have some difficulty fitting all that in a small balloon…

Today I am going to watch old Turner Classic movies and turn off the 911 stuff. Yes – I’m patriotic and love America, but I just don’t want to see it anymore. I’ll bet others felt the same about Pearl Harbor in 1961.

First off, what is with it with the town of Pitts. Is There are only three places for jobs in the whole town, The Fuse ( since nearly all named people from LuAnns graduation class works there ), work at a university/community college or with the local fire department. And second, a 911 dad joke on 9-11 … its still too soon Frank.

the good thing (so far…. fingers crossed) is that Nancy is no longer dwelling on feeling old, turning 50 or thinking that she has to stop working at the Fuse because of the comments of teen and 20 somethings. Some of the best arcs have featured her at the Fuse.

Of course it’s coincidence. The strip is planned weeks in advance. If you want to get upset, Texas is a much more appropriate target.

This whole story arc about Luann and Bernice doing chores is stretching credibility. The parents are supposed to pin rose petals on these two grown women because they’ve helped a bit around the house? What are they, ten years old?

I understand what you are saying, Frank. I, too, find it hard to take in that Luann did some work!

It’s too sad – This started with Luann making the suggestion to do stuff because she wanted to help Nancy, not to make money – just helping, then they made Bernice the hero, then it deteriorated into Luann trying to get money, and it finishes up with her dad making a snide comment about her. Nice.

I understand not giving her any sort of special reward for doing some work around the house, but mocking her is counter productive
