Woo woo! Do I spot ankle ?! You know in olden days, a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking, Heaven knows! I guess today anything goes!!! (apologies to the ghost of Cole Porter!)
I guess that this picture’s okay / (it must be – it IS a Manet ! )/ but it can’t be right (can it ?)/ to spell “Manet” like “planet”/ yet pronounce it like “s’il vous plait” !
Nuthin could be Frencher than a wench upon a trencher in the mo-or-ornin’ .. (trencher: “a circular, flat piece of wood upon which a piece of meat is served”)
Manet started to paint his wife nude but the early morning sight was too much for him. He screamed, “I can’t I can’t” and scribbled over painting with black.

I just heard of this a couple weeks ago with an aging model’s family being upset her little sister is making major kaching from subscription nekkid pichurs. Specifics withheld to avoid making the rich richer by hyping the controversy to boost sales.

The Impressionists “painted what they saw.” One decent optometrist could have destroyed an entire artistic movement.

This looks like Berthe Morisot, also an artist, who was married to Manet’s brother , Eugene, but was in love with Edouard…
Linguist about 3 years ago
Berthe was later heard to remark that she was so stoned when Manet painted this, that she didn’t even remember posing.
