From Wikipedia: “By French law, foie gras is defined as the liver of a duck or goose fattened by force-feeding corn with a feeding tube, a process also known as gavage.”

Not sure if this should be limited to just Americans. “The grass is always greener” is along the same lines as “you don’t have this”.

Americans are no different than other nationalities. And if we are not supposed to be nasty to women, to people of other races, to gays etc., to not make Polish jokes, then this is a very bad, lousy joke.

I remember a couple of weeks ago when you could still go into a restaurant, sit down, and eat there. Those were the days.

And all Irish are drunks and all Japanese have poor eyesight and ….. Let’s not promote bullsh.t stereotypes please. Only morons act as this strip implies, and you find them in any nation.

If you give me smooth goose liver meatloaf, I’ll give it back. If you offered it to me and I was starving… I’d think  about it. And then maybe give it back.

Now the $64.00 question (as my grandfather would say) is…would you want this “foie gras” if you knew what it was and what it took to produce it? ;D

Weird. A seemingly French restaurant with “ristorante” in Italian…

Is that restaurant French or Italian? Name should read L’Exception.

Shouldn’t the name of the restaurant be (excuse my French) “L’Exception”?

It should be L’Exception. Pronounced lexception. Any time le,(masculin) comes before a word which begins with a vowel, the French use the apostrophe. L’apostrophe. Pronounced L’apostrof. Here endeth today’s French lesson.

Why would an Italian restaurant (Ristorante) have a French name and a sign in French on the door, saying it’s open? Don’t Wiley know “Aperto” in Italian?

It’s possible Wiley mixed the languages on purpose. Seems to aim directly at what the restaurant guides call a fusion of two great cuisines, when they are just combining ingredients from traditional US menus with those from other countries.

I have noticed that lines are the longest for the things in shortest supply. I remember the gas lines back in the day. I wonder if we will ever tell our grand kids of the Toilet Paper hardships of the beer virus crisis back in 2020. Will it be taught in history classes? I suspect not.

What gets me is the run on oddball items like maraschino cherries, ramen, and brie. Even the chex mix was sold out, and I’ve never seen that.

If he knew it was liver, he wouldn’t eat it. If he knew what happened to the poor duck, he’d join PETA.

When I was a vegetarian, I would only eat “faux gras”

I’m half-French so while I understand how Americans can be horrified with the process, duck is a staple food in France so…y’know….shut the duck up and let us eat our foie gras. It’s duckin’ delicious!! (I’d do goose puns, but duck is funnier).

There’s a name for this kind of advertising which my prehistoric issue brain can’t remember. It works.

Now I want liverwurst. Fortunately, I have some in my refrigerator.

Learned how foie gras was made when I was young, and have been repulsed by the concept ever since, and yes, I know we Americans force feed certain animals to fatten them up for market. That also is repulsive. Just because one culture does it doesn’t mean it’s acceptable.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to eat foie gras. While I am not a fan of fowl, it is still a barbaric practice.

Why is the awning in Italian when the restaurant is French?
