Ian was the most artistic sign maker in Aberdeen, but everyone knew they had to keep an eye on his spelling.

The amazing talent of this artist is that he was able to change the painting to a solitaire game as soon as the maid walked in.

If Henry had known a painting of Tom Brady being sacked was so popular he would have tripled the cost of admission for watching him paint it.

“which one a youse ordered the BAF…?”

this painting’s title is new sign for an old score and i confess that i’m puzzled what that means. he’s painting the sign to compensate for some kind of previous misdeed…?

It’s called “ A New Sign for an Old Score”. It sold at Christies in 2006 for 4,800 pounds. I want to know what Glindoni meant by the title, but so far I’m striking out. Anybody else have better luck?

A New Sign for an Old Score

    https://www.the-athenaeum.org/art/detail.php?id=216264

has info and links that point to info about this painting. Not sure what Score refers to in this case – a memorable darts match? athletic contest? Searching old English, I couldn’t find anything other than it meaning the number 20 (doesn’t make a whole lot of sense in this instance). Maybe someone can enlighten me.

all have info, or links that point to more info, about this artist (again, the askart.com can be read in full for free on Fridays), perhaps in addition to than what’s pointed to by the title URL. So far, 2 works by him have been used here.

    https://www.gocomics.com/that-is-priceless/2019/11/01?comments=visible

has the prior (my comment there used the same artist info URLs).

Maybe the title is misspelled. “New Sign for an Old Store” would make sense.
