It’s counterproductive because you forgot the pizza!

Not THAT kind of rehydration, Rat! Goat was referring to water or even electrolyte-filled Gatorade.

As @DennisInSeattle implied, there’s too much blood in his alcohol stream.

I got a real laugh out of that one…but seriously, having a beer after a workout isn’t unusual. When I volunteered for IRONMAN, I often saw the top athletes having a beer after completing the race.

If it’s light beer, it’s mostly water anyway.

Yeah, it doesn’t help that there are 16 microbreweries within a quarter mile’s distance off the W&OD trail here in Northern VA.

I used to compete in races and most of them had beer at the finish. Some had pizza.

I’m so vexed by hearing admonitions to “hydrate” I could scream. The other day I walked past the drink stand for a road race that bore the sign “Hydration Station.” Why must Americans medicalize every simple, normal human behavior like drinking by labeling it with absurd technical jargon? It’s sick!

There’s a reason the USDA doesn’t all beer to put complete nutritional information on the label; information that is mandated for everything else: beer is an excellent source of B vitamins and anti-oxidants, it’s fat-free, low-sugar, and your liver can process the alcohol to usable energy faster than anything else you can drink.

I knew kids at college who would work out all week so they wouldn’t gain weight from their weekend drinking.

what I read here I can drink beer and hydrate https://www.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/jappl.1997.83.4.1152 so I am staying with beer (don’t bother arguing, its a valid opinion, like fake news)

Re-hydrate, Rat! Not “re-alcoholate”! Oh, well. In Rat’s case, what does it matter?

I think the rehydratation by beer is not the best option… The beer drinks better in musical events and parties or when we saw sport events with some peanuts…
