A good start. Better than bombing the rest of the world to rubble, which seems to be the most common presidential policy.

His “enemies” are the majority of principled conservatives, Republicans (including politicians, officials, and voters), and especially Americans who didn’t vote for him.

Why not? He seems to be on a lot of enemy lists himself.

As long as he doesn’t subvert the power of the DOJ or IRS, of course.

That would just be wrong, for most people.

Yes, it’s very reminiscent of the crook who said “I am not a crook.”

“Your reporters just can’t stand the fact that I am in this office. They have opposed me for 25 years.” – Richard Nixon

“[Television networks] are “anti-Nixon” and “they’re going to have to pay for that sooner or later.” – Ron Zeigler, Nixon’s press secretary.

“The [Washington] Post is going to have damnable, damnable problems out of this one. They have a television station . . . and they’re going to have to get it renewed. There ain’t going to be no forgetting and there’ll be goddamn little forgiving.” – Nixon

“We will bring you to our knees…We’ll break your network.” – Chuck Colson (Special Counsel to Nixon) to Frank Stanton (President of CBS)

In at least one of his Pearls treasuries, Pastis commented that he preferred to stay away from political humor in general. Maybe he’s changed his mind. His strip and he can do what he wants, but I don’t think he’s doing it well. It’s not just that I (apparently) disagree with him about President Trump, either. Berk Breathed has been slamming him on his revived Bloom County strip, but he’s actually funny.

Omarosa: Trump already has an enemies list. Omarosa Manigault, a former contestant on The Apprentice, and Donald Trump advocate, says those who vote against Trump will be placed on a special “list.”Nov 8, 2016

Commenters who bang on about Trump on non-political strips for a start.

Since the term “alternative facts” means nothing more and nothing less than “lies”, if Rat had “alternative enemies” would they be his friends?

Sounds like Obama’s first days in office. (yeah, yeah, I know this is directed at Trump. I don’t disagree with the sentiment, either. Just reminding everybody that Trump saw what Obama did and wants more of it – unfettered power.)

We’ll see. I see someone else has already noted that Obama took pages from Nixon’s playbook while he was supposed to preside over the government.

I sincerely hope Pastis doesn’t go the way of Trudeau’s Doonesbury. What was once a funny and witty take on the political scene in general became a mean-spirited daily attack cartoon that just wasn’t even amusing. It was sad to see.

Pastis (and other morons who don’t get it): You’ve lost another customer (reader), and frankly, I hope you lose many more. The reason I have always like Pearls Before Swine is because of its lack of politics (left, right, ANY KIND). Take your strip to a political page section or anywhere other than “the funnies.” I gave you two shots over the last couple months but today’s was the third strike. You, sir, are OUT!

Mr. Pastis, could you give us some idea how long you will be doing political comics? Your political comedy isn’t unique; where as, your regular comedy was. Also, your political comedy is average at best. There are plenty of average comics, and, comics I haven’t looked at. If you could give us some idea how long you will be wasting your time with this, I can take that time to look for above average and better comics.
