OT: Our new cat Yogi Bear had his first vet wellness visit and he weighed in at 21 pounds and got his immunization shots. He is about 8ish years old, best guess from previous vet in 2020. He has a chip so I need to call and get his ownership changed today. Dr. Andrea [our vet] thinks he has some Maine [a word I can’t use] in him as he is so big. with big feet and a large amount of tuffs in his ears and between his toes. And his face is broad. He is a happy cat and very nice tempered. Katie on the other hand tolerates him until she feels like being a ‘bad’ girl and tries to intimidate him. Sigh!

Just curious: how many of us here have used a gumball machine? I can’t remember the last time I saw one at a store?

OT: a little ASMR video on the Rescue & Restore channel. It’s a little over 10 minutes long, and called “Northwestern Model 60 Vending Machine Restoration”.

Awwwww! I was looking forward to the, crash and bouncy Gum balls, set free to roam!

Been decades since I’ve seen one. Remember when you could get toys, like a “super ball” from the machines for a dime?

I’m glad to see Lupin this morning.

Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Serfig-Aro: That was a real claw biter of a game. The final score: The Mighty Spuds 21, the Harsh Browns 24. Now for the post game potato rolling celebration!

Pink Lupinium: I was going to start the potato rolling, but they seem to have gone missing. There’s no telling what happened to them.

Puckmosis: Rumor has it that Thomios was planning a pasta dish, but at the last minute changed it to a potato dish. There may have been a shortage of potatoes for dinner.

At the Royal Kitchen

Thomios: That’s right, Tabith-Isis. I was planning to do Spaghetti A’La Thomios, but Ora Z volunteered to smash potatoes. I didn’t think I had enough, but then a whole pile of round potatoes appeared.

Tabs: Did you hear anything before that?

Thomios: Yes. There was giggling in the background.

Tabs: That’s very telling.

Thomios: No, they never tell.

Gum balls, the solution to the mole problem. The moles would choke on the gum balls so leave the jar in the yard. Problem solved.

Aww, I was all ready to hear about the Gumball Rally :)

And so it begins….

Honestly, I think Lupin’s absolutely factual report about the gumballs – hi Lupin, missed your scampy face! – would be distraction enough in its own right.

Wait, has nobody commented on the adorable little paw-fingers in panel 3? They are so cute and mischievous.

Lupin’s expressions in panels 3 and 4 and perfect! Surprised, focused, concerned… I don’t have a clue what to expect, but I’m glued to this broadcast until we find out! And… excuse me? But – a close-up of widely splayed toe beans!

OT – updates

With the way his tail is twitching, how long can Lupin resist?

“We go live now to a special report from Puck … who will not be lying, nope, nope, nope, not our Puck who would never fib on air, not our Pucky Bear.”

I can’t wait to hear what Puck has to say.

Feels like they’re dipping their toes in the Rubicon here. “Alea jacta est” (or maybe “globus jacta sunt” would be more appropriate here…)

But classicist-cum-Dungeons and Dragons buff Eduardo Garcia-Molina said it best: “Why translate Caesar’s utterance “ἀνερρίφθω κύβος” as “Let the die be cast” when “Roll for initiative” is right there?”

If gumballs weren’t meant to be free, they wouldn’t roll away when you tip their jar over.

The poor gumballs need to stay in captivity a bit longer. I am sure the people wanted Lupin, or one of the cats to set them free. They did leave them at the edge of the counter with no cover on them.

Fangs, hat on a cat, and toe beans! He’ll still knock it off, just not on air.

I trust the resultant rainbow spill would be beautifully drawn. Add it to the long list of things you can’t have with Lupin around.

I wonder if Puck won’t have to create a distraction because Lupin will.

Just a note regarding Sunday’s tribute to Taylor Swift. I checked on You Tube her ‘Shake It Off’ video. It was wonderful. Everyone looked and acted like they were having so much fun. And Ms Swift herself displayed a wonderful sense of humor and talent. She let everyone shine. Just an observation from an 83 year old lady who isn’t familiar with current music all that much. I lost track after the 80s. I’m such a Golden Oldie and earlier music.

I hope Puck is reporting on the Mole situation, perhaps implementing the nefarious plan.

I can’t wait for the special report! I haven;’t had this level of anticipation since Puck was trapped in the trunk.

Good to see Lupin wearing the hat again! Feels like it’s been a while!

What a relief. Cat stories.

We gave the 4 year old boy a box of 200 3/4" superballs and told him to set them free at the top of the stairs. He had a blast as did the cats. His mother was not amused. I lived across the street from them. I can see the girl and Ora and Ziggy chasing gumballs with glee!

Sad news – David McCallum passed away today at the age of 90.

Illya Kuryakin and Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard. A long and distinguished career and life! R.I.P.
