Why not want a slip-n-slide? You might need the wide body version.

Is Earl going to have difficulty getting out of the beanbag chair once he sits therein?

When my dad was in his late 50s, he was troubled by a bad back (slipped disk, though not enough for surgery). My fiancee and I were living in Houston… and we bought a couple of giant bags of polystyrene beads and sewed up a bean bag chair for him, which we delivered at Christmas. He used it regularly until his death about 20 years later. Though my mother did have to replace the bag material at least once.

This summer at a Winnipeg flea market building, I saw this really neat looking bean bag chair, styled to look like a cookie. $5! Thinking about it, I checked the material tag as it had this neat crinkly sound. After looking up polyurethane foam on my phone…

(a followup shouldn’t be necessary, I found something about releasing toxic gas…)

And in the ’80s, Earl had a mullet. Your move.

I hope he’s not going to sit in it naked and eat potato chips. I don’t have any more eye bleach.

I think these two are older than I am, and I had a Slip and Slide back in the early 60’s. If they were kids in the 70s, they would be in their early 50s….and I imagine they are in their 70s.

Of course, that was when you could get up without struggling, Earl!

If you can sit in a beanbag chair on your own, you have to get out and up on your own.

And bell bottoms with flares so wide that you couldn’t see your shoes, and wide white belts.

Beanbag chairs are for the young, agile, athletic and children. Mature adults and old people should avoid them.

And our intrepid hero discovers he no longer has the flexibility to get out of the bean bag.

No…… they are NOT comfortable..!!!!

i had a full head o’ hair! luv to have that back, and a natural six-pack. gawd, i wuz beautiful.

I’ve got enough trouble getting in and out of my recliner, thank you!

I had lots of things in the 70s that I really miss; my hair, my teeth, uncorrected vision, unaided hearing . . . But I saw all the really good bands! (Which might explain some of the hearing loss . . .)

Don’t give him any ideas…

A good idea for getting rid of excess beans to guys who stocked them. Not a good idea for buyers or for recycling, which is where most of them ended up.

I always thought the ideal furniture/cache would be a coffee bean bag chair.

I had one of those too, in my younger days. I wouldn’t be able to get out of one today. LOL!!!

False equivalency here, Opal. A beanbag chair is comfortable. A Slip-n-Slide isn’t made for comfort. In any case, an unfunny punch line.

Tomorrow’s ’tune will feature gramps stuck in the depths of his new furniture.

I want to see Earl actually try to get back off of it once he’s sitting.

The 70’s were…….

there is no graceful way to get out of a beanbag chair… and at my age getting out at all is nigh on impossible.

We have a Slip-N-Slide.

Of course, we also have grandkids (some of whom do have beanbag chairs – and Lava Lamps®.

We just spent a couple weeks sleeping in the 6-year-old’s room; used the Lava Lamp® as a nightlight, and I have to say, they are just as groovy now as they were the first time around.

And I’m sure the beanbag is just as comfy; I am, however, equally sure that I would never get up out of it now………

They still have a slip n slide if they are not careful in the bathtub or shower.

My wife drags a couple of those things out when the grandkids visit. I think they’re just being nice sitting on them.

At his age he will never get up out of that bean bag thing without a block and tackle.

Earl you forgotten one part you was much younger back then.

Looks like Earl did a slip-and-slide off the beabag chair.

Once he sits in that, she’ll always know where he is.

At my age (71) I can remember back when I was young that getting out of a beanbag chair was not easy which is why I would never attempt to sit in one now

Those things are dangerous. They are known to cause Cancer in California.

Earl’s going to need a crane to get out of that thing. Brian, you busy?

Let him be, all he has to do is sit in it then TRY to get back up. Then back to the thrift store!
