True story, when my granddaughter was six she wanted to eat a bug (microwaved it) but needed some guts to go through with it so I took the first bite! An experience she’ll never forget! But you can’t say you don’t like something if you haven’t tried it. It was kind of hot-spicy tasting…
Cicada’s are coming to town folks, and they are edible. So, enjoy. The farmers are not planting corps this spring because of the things. The two broods that will emerge simultaneously this year are Brood XIX (the 13-year cicadas) and Brood XIII (the 17-year cicadas)
They told us in survival school that bugs are a good protein source. The best way to prepare them is to roast them over an open fire to burn off the antenne, wings and legs so it doesn’t LOOK like a bug.
There are some parts of the world where insects are a significant part of the diet. African termites and Southeast Asian rice bugs can be a meal by themselves.
